ME TOO !! Mayweather way too slick at 147 , even more so than at 130 .. He KO"S Hearns in 1 round ... this is a mismatch , Mayweather too slick for Prime Lennox Lewis also.. he also KO's Lewis in Round 1 EDIT: He also is too slick for Larry Holmes .. Mayweather can walk thru all the best jabbers in the history of the sport ,,, OH ya Sonny Liston too .. He takes Liston out in 30 seconds ,,, YA Mayweather too slick for everyone , I agree ... Was he "too slick" for JLC at 135?
Great matchup! I really don't see this as a one and done fight , these guys would have fought 2 or 3 times and split the series. The big elephant in the room to me is Hearns reach and height. Floyd most certainly had the style to give Hearns fits, but could Floyd close the distance between when he needed to, and could he have created the distance when he needed to avoid punches? Floyd would have to be near perfect to avoid Tommy's punches and still catch him back on the counter..... I see this series going 2-1 in Hearns favor, all by decision.... One area I give Floyd an edge though is stamina and gas tank, even with Tommy being a 15 round fighter. Great matchup and excellent thread
Mayweather doesn't have the power or output to give Hearns any issues. Hearns can also use his reach advantage to outjab the dickhead. Hearns via stoppage or lopsided decision.
I picked Hearns by decision. I think Floyd’s defense and durability might prevent him from getting stopped. But Hearns height, reach and power would keep him at bay for a points win
Let's see: won titles at 154, 160, 168, beat every top fighter of his era in any of those weight classes, never been down, never been stopped, has close to 60 fights under his belt... But oh no, we can't compare him to Hearns right? Why not?
I like Floyd as a fighter buy I don't think he beats Tommy. I just can't see him out boxing Hearns or avoiding that right hand.
Nope, you're right, he was just the reigning 154 champ (Hearns best weight) with six defenses under his belt and a string of brutal knockouts. But of course he could never compare to Hearns right?
