That is typical Floyd. I think Floyd had a long prime because he always stayed in great shape. He was still 100% affective through 5 weight divisions at the time they fought. Canelo turned into the Hulk from the Chavez fight to present time. I would say prime Canelo was from the 2nd GGG fight to present skill wise and physically. They compete in different weight divisions so it would be hard to tell. I think if Canelo fought a supermiddle weight version of Floyd in his prime he would get schooled again. Styles make fights.

Canelo was green as ****. Almost got knocked out by Cotto's little brother and controversial fights against Trout and Lara. Floyd can make a case he wasn't prime too. But not prime vs not prime doesn't necessarily give the same result as prime vs prime. Look at hopkins vs RJJ rematch.

That being said of course Canelo's success reflects positively on Floyd's victory... but Floyd's accomplishments don't always have to be exaggerated to the extreme.

Canelo is obviously better now but I still don’t think he would beat any good version of mayweather. Also that wasn’t mayweather proper weight, while canelo is obviously much bigger now. Thing is, canelo has refined his style, he can change into a more aggressive style which is what he needed to be vs mayweather. If the canelo of may-canelo fight had canelo’s current ring iq and style, it would be ALOT more competitive fight.
