Floyd Mayweather: When Canelo fought me, he was in his prime, I was an old man. I wasn't in my prime

Canelo is never beating any version of Floyd. Floyd is just too adaptable on the fly for Canelo and Canelo still has many weaknesses which Floyd can adapt too

Sucks for Canelo, to prepare his whole life for an opponent, to do so much research, homework and have many game plans only to be schooled on the night. Lol, he even tried to rob Floyd but such was the dominance of the performance that there was no justification for the opposite result.

I don't understand why fans have to drive a narrative that a fighter was drained when the fighter themselves have the honesty to admit they were beaten by skill - nothing else. He wasn't weight drained, he rehydrated 15lb more than Floyd. Canelo himself was humble in defeat and admitted that the weight had nothing to do with the loss or his performance. Floyd was just too good, too hard to hit, too intelligent.

"I did not know how to get him. Simple as that. He's very intelligent, very elusive, simple as that"

    When asked about the weight:

"Were you surprised that you weren't able to at any time to use your weight advantage of 15lbs?"

He was a man child, he wasn’t interested anymore, but still in his prime years. No way past prime at 23, just was no longer focused. Had it in him but didn’t want it

They will say or do anything to try and discredit the win because it was an amazing win and feat for a 36 year old past prime fighter in his 5th weight class. Some don't want to acknowledge his greatness because of it. Hatton didn't make any excuses after he lost to PBF either but PBF's haters cry about that one as well.

he's exaggerating but certainly not talking rubbish.

for any light middleweight boxer who ever lived, 23 is certainly closer to prime aged than 36.

the exaggeration in his claim comes from the fact that both fighters were relatively late bloomers, so, whilst it's true that Canelo had some improvement left in him, and that Floyd had been lucky (and clever) in terms of managing to avoid any really hefty deterioration in his skills by then, I do sort of partly agree with him. and, weights permitting, would certainly back 29 year old Floyd to beat 29 year old Canelo any day of the week.

Imagine what the Pretty boy Floyd version would do to any version of Canelo

Young guys 18 to 25 are physically in their prime. Now physical or athletic ability is one thing , but knowing how to use those physical attributes is another and physically Money just had more control and know how. Canelo was not fighting the PBF lightining combination version but a defensive counter punching Money.

Same thing goes for mental ability or knowledge in the ring Young guys 18-25 are not mentally in their prime. And canelo mentally did not have a chance against a old master like Money. I bet Canelo is saying if I knew then what I know now. and everyone know how stupid they were when they were 18-25.

prime youth vs prime knowledge at the elite level most of the time knowledge wins ask Bhop.

I just watched the kings. and duran , leonard, and hearns were whipping young guys way past prime.

Honestly this was right before I started following boxing daily, Pacquiao vs Cotto was the fight that made boxing my favorite sport. From what I’ve seen he fought the unified welterweight champion instead but you know how fans are, back then there was no one Floyd or Pac could fight to make everyone happy.

Question, is FM over Canelo a better win than Pac over Spence? Provided Pac wins. I say no. Just want your opinion.

It would be a great win no doubt but people would then question how good was Spence really? Was he effected by the car wreck? Not saying it's fair but it will happen. With that said people will think what they think based on who that like more.

    Works both ways.

Many claim that Mayweather is in the top 10 of all time or even the GOAT, when his record is nowhere near as impressive as Ali's, Robinson's, Leonard's, Duran's and many others.

Tyson's prime had more to do with his mental state, not skills. Anyone who says Canelo hasn't improved since he was 23 is straight lying.
