You can also tell that he's never gotten fully accustomed to 147. He's no where near as mobile and fluid with his combinations at 147 as he was at 140 and below. So 154 was really pushing it, and 160 is completely out of the question.

I doubt Floyd would be as successful against Pav as you think, despite Pav's issues with defensive, slick boxers. Floyd is barely acclimatized to 147. His best fighting weight is still140 imo. He's a small guy.

On the other hand, Pav should be fighting at 168. Hell, he could possibly campaign at 175 successfully. That's if his team believed in his ability. That kind of size difference would affect Floyd's effectiveness, even though he has a dramatic skill advantage. We have weight classes for a reason.

Don't discredit what Maravilla was able to do to Pav. The guy is bigger than Mayweather, but still not a true Middleweight. He made it look easy to beat Pav, but he presents a different matchup against him compared to Floyd. It's not that simple to compare.

Pav had started landing in those middle rounds and doing well. Maravilla just imposed his will from Rd 9 onward.

He's stronger now then he was when he fought Baldomir and Hatton. He outmuscled Musloey which nobody expected. Which is from his body continuing to get bigger.

But yeah 160 would be too much.

I've been saying this for years, and even before Hopkins beat Pavlik to pieces.

May/Pav is about a once a month feature here.

So, let me trot out my old worn out line,

If May thought he could have beat Pav for the lineal MW championship he would have done so.

    This is getting tedious.
