If I would be a mod, I would immediately ban someone like you, ron_uk frazzles you verbally, and you don´t know how to counter with facts/ logical arguments, and all you can answer with are jokes about parents or so, what a little twat you´re, btw, I know posters here like Amsterdam, C.M. Clay II, etc, but what you write here for ridiculous things in this thread, I think the posters I mentioned did never write such much **** all compared...

Imagining Floyd fighting LaMotta makes me laugh. He'd destroy Floyd in more ways than one, it'd be hilarious.

You can notice all you want while watching LaMotta, I can come up with tens of 2nd and 3rd rate boxers who also show the things you listed, at least from time to time. The man is grossly overrated for his supposed "skills".

Even if he´s overrated (what I don´t think), you can´t seriously tell me that a PBF, who never fought above 154 lbs would beat an over 170 lbs LaMotta...

I rate PBF quite highly...and I think he holds his own against a lot of good solid middleweights, just by virture of his exceptional skill-set. But, against a great middleweight (LaMotta), and against Robinson, he's not going to win. Survive, maybe....possibly even have a few moments...but not win.

    Geeeez.

So now your putting LaMotta in the same boat as those tens of 2nd and 3rd rate boxers your thinking of? Hey, its your right to believe what you will about LaMotta, as it is my right to think the same thing about Jones and Floyd and their great "skills".

My point was these old fighters get praised even for simple things that pretty much any experienced fighter shows. It's getting pathetic when it becomes something like 'ahhh... ohhh... wow... he threw a jab, amazing! he side-stepped and made his opponent miss a blow, unbelievable!' Of course, I'm exaggerating, but it sounds similar to that sometimes.

When LaMotta and Zivic met for the 4th time, Fritzie broke his left hand in the 1st round. LaMotta couldn't even put him down once, even less so to finish him. That's how "great" a swarmer LaMotta was. People in attendance booed the decision (same as in the previous three meetings).

It's hard to compare fighters from different eras but I think both LaMotta and Robinson would have provided great challenges for Floyd. I think Floyd would be too quick for LaMotta and would probably out-box him for a few rounds. LaMotta could win by late KO or decision because Floyd would get frustrated after watching LaMotta continually laugh at him because his punches wouldn't hurt him. Floyd doesn't beat Ray Robinson because he doesn't have the power. His skills aren't that far off from Robinson but he doesn't have the total combination of hand speed, foot speed, power and endurance that Robinson possessed. People forget that in those days, 15 rounds were commonplace and Floyd will never fight a fifteen round fight in this era. Final score, LaMotta by late KO or Floyd over LaMotta by decision. Robinson knocks out Floyd late or wins a unanimous decision.

So what if LaMotta couldn`t put Zivic down or finish him? You do realize that Zivic was only ever stopped 4 times in well over two hundred fights and he wasn`t exactly known for hitting the deck regularly either, so it is hardly a mark against LaMotta that he couldn`t put him down or finish him.

And unlike Mayweather, Zivic is a natural welter and a very tough and durable one at that, and he was a very clever fighter with a good jab and a lot of ring smarts. And how convenient of you to overlook the fact that when Jake and Fritz squared off for the first time, Zivic was a veteran of almost two hundred fights against some of the very best of his era.

Zivic was a great fighter, and to have four close bouts against him considering his edge in experience over Jake is nothing to hold against him. I am willing to bet that Fritzie would have given Floyd a run for his money too, and would have likely beaten him at least once in a series of fights. He was a very good boxer, and one of the dirtiest fighters who ever lived, and Floyd ain`t never fought anyone close to his caliber.

So for you to try and make it seem that LaMotta having those four close bouts against him (of which he won three by the way) is some of sort of indication and proof that Floyd would have soundly trounced him is a rather poor comparison in my book. I`ll tell you something, I am quite confident that Zivic would have defeated everyone that Floyd has ever faced handily, but I seriously doubt that the same can be said vice-versa.

Now I am basing my opinion of Jake beating Floyd on that 2 min clip of his I have against Tommy Bell, a clip which shows him aggressively pursuing Bell all over the ring while keeping up a high workrate and landing a lot of leather on Bells midsection, which he did successfully even while in hot pursuit of his foe. Mayweathers tactics against Baldomir would not have saved him against that version of LaMotta, which is as close to a peak LaMotta there is available on film.

Now you can disagree with me all you want, but I happen to be a firm believer that a man has got to know his limitations, and that fighting the likes of Robinson and LaMotta would be a bridge too far for someone like Floyd. Lets see how spotless his record would be had he fought every other week against good to great fighters like Ray and Jake did, call me crazy but I doubt he would have been undefeated had his career spanned over one hundred fights in such a tough era.

If you fight the best of your era as consistently and as often as these two guys did, I don`t care how gifted, athletic, smart, cagey and defensively sound you may be or any other quality you can think of, it is inevitable you will suffer some losses along the way, and that includes the likes of Floyd and I daresay the allmighty Jones Jr. as well, although I am certain you would disagree with me on that last claim. After all, we all know thanks to you that Jones could have beaten anyone any which way he so desired, and that he was so good that no one could beat him or come even remotely close to doing so in his prime.

...zivic came from a big family, so if they all booed the decision it would sound like a crowd.

I've already said that Lamotta and Robinson would easily defeat the pretty boy. The vicious foul fighting Zivic would end his career.

Now, while I hold these opinions so strongly that I consider them Revealed Knowledge, I do not find it necessary to attack Doppleguy's family, or his character or make any personal attack on him as a human being, and i think to do so just weakens the statements of those who do.

You forgot to say that Zivic was washed up by the time he met LaMotta and had been talking about retirement for a couple of years already. LaMotta was 22, excellent age for his style, Zivic was 30. And Zivic was fighting one-handed for almost ten rounds, thus lacking his weapon he used so effectively vs. LaMotta the previous bouts - left jab that kept LaMotta off balance. I'd guess that come fight time LaMotta weighed over 10 pounds heavier than Zivic too. But LaMotta was a mediocre fighter with very average set of skills, that's why Zivic was able to stay the distance in such circumstances. And the film proves this, look how poor more experienced LaMotta looks vs. Robinson or Hairston, he was only 29 and 30 years old by this time. His accomplishments, of course, deserve respect, but skillwise or cleverness-wise he's only a mediocrity.
