Floyd is the biggest draw in boxing, people either love him or love to hate him.

Floyd revels in his 'bad guy' persona.

But if Floyd had a personality change, and started playing the 'good guy' and stepped up his competition. When promoting they could focus on his unbeaten record, and the fact that we are watching one of the greatest fighters ever.

I know this would never happen, but if it did, would Floyd make even better ppv numbers? It never hurt Oscar or Manny to be more humble.

If Floyd loves making his money like he says. He is always bragging that he's a great business man. Doesn't it make sense business wise?

I know they already focus on his unbeaten record, but i mean if they started to spin it towards, 'who could beat this all-American hero' etc

Alot of the hype in the fights is he is the villain and his opponent the good guy.

Two good guys dont neccesarily sell a big fight in astronomicall numbers.

    Tyson vs opponents etc

But with oscar he was gold medalist and drove females crazy even middle age women so he already had that fann base plus he was hispanic so that plays a larger part.

Their always needs to be a bad guy.

He is not acting like a villain to hype the fight. That really is his personality. FACT.

Every fighter trainer who knows him have said he is a good kid.

On the other hand if you have never wanted to hit a woman( not that it is right at all)

Then you have not been in a relationship.

Other then that you cant discredit his real personality he has many charities etc.

  6. American loves nice guys (see Shaq, Kobe, Tiger Woods), especially nice guys at an elite level. If Floyd never played the role of villain, he'd have made even more money over the course of his career.

Villain roles do well with syndicated television shows, i.e. reality TV. Hence, people love when the contestants get violent, talk major ****, or do stupid ****.

The problem is, Floyd isn't playing a villain. He's genuinely a classless, hateful street thug.

    :deal:deal:deal

There was/is a major difference in the bad guy personas of Tyson and Mayweather.

Tyson was the villain, but at the same time the public loved him. He would say and do absurd things, but there was something in his character which made everyone still revere, respect him and even defend him. It still happens now after he's retired. When Mike's on the TV screen or making a public appearance, people stop what they're doing and are just fascinated by what he says or does.

Mayweather on the other hand, is a villain that the public genuinely hate. He can make as much money and defeat as many opponents, but his off putting personality prevent people from warming to him, and respecting his ability the way they should. Even after he beats Pacquiao and retires for good, he won't be missed.

It makes you wonder why Tyson, despite having a far more inferior legacy and talent than Mayweather, has made more money and generated double the amount of respect that will last forever, and why Mayweather will never achieve this.

Tyson has that innocence about him and it doesnt match up with the way he looks from the outside so yes people are curious.

But i disagree many people will miss Floyd, Everyone was begging him to come back when he was retired and you know that. Even now he is vacationing and half the threads are about him and will be for sometime until he retires for good.

People have that thing with him love him or hate him.

Even if your not a fan of his you have to respect his skills.

No marketer with any sense would try and put a positive spin on Floyd's personality, simply because it's far too late for that. In addition, his behaviour away from the ring is pathetic as well, so you really couldn't paint him as an all-American hero.

I mean, this guy has all the money in the world, yet refuses to pay his taxes and refuses to pay rent for his LA offices. He also beats women and makes allegations about his fellow competitors that are totally unfounded.

The more you see and hear from Mayweather, the more you realise he isn't just a bad guy and a trash talker for promotional purposes, he is just a genuinely substandard human being.

the tyson we saw was the real tyson. i don't think it was just a persona he had to take on so he could sell.

    real things sell, fakes don't.
