On a interview before May-Pac for HBO, Golden boy Oscar DeLa Hoya said that his left jab was landing all day long on Floyd when he faced him and that Floyd didn't know how to defend it because he kept doing the shoulder roll, which left his right side a bit open. So DLH was saying that if Pacman's left hand lands straight down the pipe, instead of a left jab, then Floyd could have problems, but obviously pacman had 1 arm and wasn't fit to fight that day. We all know Floyd has many strengths, but what other weaknesses does Floyd Mayweather have?
Fighters in their prime that are actually good But really it's all about the south paw stance the shoulder roll is not as effective against south paws as it is orthodox fighters
Well at least we know one guy who ISN'T his weakness. Pressure and ring iq would be my guess. But a guy who has both? doesnt exist rn.
See the thing with pressure it has to be done with intelligence I have always maintained in order to beat Floyd with pressure you have to go at him like Hagler did Hearns ,be able,to walk through fire to get him out of thereb..Ine thing Floyd is not is a brawler ..
He's too small to take that approach he had to do it from angles he had a,little success but then again he couldn't trap Floyd ..
He has no real weaknesses. There are things he does better than others, but Mayweather's best strength has always been his ring IQ - so even if someone was finding a way to score on him, he's always been able to take that away from them by adjusting.
Easy to have no weaknesses when you fight guys on the slide or who are Not on your level like Gurrero
The ability to fight a fighter when they were bang in their prime, that's Floyd's downfall. ...plus him being a jumped up cherry-picking c - unt.
In the ring? The Jab. A historic fighter? Tommy Hearns. Mentally? The ability to fight the best at their best. Physically? Power.
He has all the tools to win speed, intellect, adjustability, ok power, foot work, stamina, and good reflexes. His only weakness would be not taking an opponent serious enough, and training poorly to prepare for them. Or age catching up with him. Other than that, if he's on his game your not beating him, as he has shown his whole career.
No fighter rn can come at floyd without taking a few punches. His defense is the best in the history of the sport but eventually if a real banger like Hagler was faced Floyd then he would be in trouble. Mayweather has virtually no power that's why he hasn't had a KO since Ortiz who wasn't even prepared. Thurman would pose a great threat to mayweather that's why he won't fight him.
