"Pretty Boy" Floyd "Money" Mayweather What makes him special: 1. His Speed - he is not just fast with his hands but he poseses the extremely rare combination of pin point accuracy and underated power to boot. 2. Genes - Like them or not the Mayweathers have a great fighting blood line and Lil flyod has inherited that. 3. Dedication - For all of his talent he never slacks, the man is retired and it is rumored to be training like an animal in the wee hours of the morning case and point. 4. Defense - "It wins championships" the old cliche holds true even in boxing. His shoulder roll, the use of the fore-arm, his weave and counter techinique, head movement, and cat like reflexes, damn he is good! 5. Stamina - This is something that is so underated when we talk about Floyd, because of the other glaringly amazing attributes like Speed and defensive skills. This might be the Key to a win against Margarito. 6. Fear - This is a good thing in small doses. I am not saying that he is scared to fight, but he is scared to loose. I beleive that is what drives him to work so hard he can't even phanthom loosing it's not in his mental make up. Being to brave can cost you a fight. 7. Counter Punching - Few could do it like him, make you miss like 10 punches and the clap your chin with like 4 or five solid shots, straight right, another right , left hook and finish it all with a jab or an uppercut talk about original work some of them combos should be trademarked. 8. Chin - This little muther ****er can take a punch. Even though he does not get hit much, when it does happen no problem he eats them. Oscar can punch and laded maybe two or three somewhat flush shots in their fight and it did not even faze him. 9. Ring Smarts - He can adjust to any style, give him 4 rounds and he will figure you out, no matter who you are how big you are or what your style is. He can even beat you at your own game if that's what you want, ask Hatton. 10. Arrogance - Like any other great champ he feels nobody can hold his ****ing jock strap. Them bums ain't on his level, at least that is how he feels. They dont even deserve to share the ring with him, he is better that Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis and Ali rolled up into one if you ask him. He has a skill set that is unparalled, in this era, not even RJJ had such a complete skill set. The sad part he still has so much in the tank and it might all go to waste due to an early retirement, could Margarito handle this type of a package? We might never find out.................
It would be "fear" is the main factor for him. He doesn't want to take any chance any more. Yes, he has the tools to beat Margo!
So the fact that he's unwilling to fight the best because he's afraid to lose makes him great? No, that keeps him undefeated. The great ones try themselves against the best to see if they truly are the best. Mayweather at his best was a great fighter certainly(I wouldn't call him great at any weight above 130), but that is a TERRIBLE criteria for judging greatness.
If Oscar Delahoya moved up and fought the same caliber of competition at the same relative stages of their careers he would be undefeated as well.
Thats all nuthuggers go by...his physical prowess and skill. There's a lot more to being a champion than that but thats totally lost upon the fangirls. They think talent=greatness.
I think that sometimes we don't give him enough credit for what he has accomplished and he has left us thirsty for more so ...........we hate He fought the best from 130-135 so he is an al time great in some weight classes, based on accomplishments not talent. These guys are not chumps: Corales Castillo Hernandez Chavez
Aside from every attribute he has, the thing that made Floyd great was he had the attitude all great fighters had, and that is he refused to lose. It isn't fear to lose, someone who's afraid to lose will fight nobodies (Floyd could have and should have fought several top fighters, but he has a solid resume and took on some excellent fighters), Floyd is not afraid to lose, he simply refused to let that happen. Floyd coasted a lot because he could, but very few trained harder than him and very few were so driven to win as much as Floyd was. The man is not nearly as great as he thinks he is, is no where near as great as his nuthuggers think he is, but he is great, and he was very special. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm objective, and the man was one of the better fighters I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. You can say that he should have fought Margarito, and Cotto, and Casamayor, and Tszyu when he was in their divisions, and it's true, he should of. But it's not like he fought nobodies, he fought some serious threats. Coralles was seen as a dangerous opponent and Floyd obliterated him, Castillo was an outstanding fighter and Floyd proved himself the better. He could have done a lot more, and maybe he would have lost along the way, but it would have been better if he had fought everyone who was seen as a threat to him. As it stands though, the man was a special fighter, one with a career that while not remarkable, was surely outstanding, and worthy of being called great.
Floyd Mayweather has the abilities to be ranked with the bests, but if he doesn't return to the ring, he never will.
