Over on fight hype. http://fighthype.com/pages/content7306.html?PHPSESSID=056d28759a70ddf5f198dee3898bf3f7 Now obviously, this is not a first hand account. But I have to say that on both counts Ive heard much of the same elsewhere too. So far we havent talked much about Shane not having Naz fully commited until 3 weeks before the fight. Does that affect Shane at all? When trainers want to come in with specific game plans, how much time does it take to implement it in camp usually? What do ya'll think?
I don't see why Naz can't split himself between Mosley and Hop, though clearly his loyalty lies with Hop. The Jones fight has been scheduled for quite some time, and really, Hop doesn't need any strategy to beat the shell of the shell of Roy Jones. Clearly his attention is better focused on Mayweather, but again, loyalty could keep him in Hop's camp unnecessarily. Hop is not a charitable person; it's doubtful he would sacrifice his own chances of winning to increase Mosley's. Mosley really needs a superb gameplan, he's not good enough to beat him on skill alone. And as someone pointed out, if Mosley's chief sparring partner is the Naz relative who never turned pro but is championship material, that report isn't quite as meaningful. Also, releasing reports that the old underdog is looking bad is the favourite is looking great is the exact opposite of what promoters want us to think, so I take these reports with more credibility than "Marquez is looking great at WW, despite being fat and slow"
Whenever a report includes "a source close to..", then it's really not worth taking seriously. Statements coming out of Floyd's camp may as well be coming out of Floyd's mouth, it's all bull****. No doubt he'll be having a good productive training camp (as he always does), but reports of sparring partners being KO'd etc, shouldn't be too alarming. And as for Shane struggling with his respective camp, again I wouldn't treat it seriously. His team know this chance will never come again, so I doubt they'll be so careless in their planning and preperation. Expect both camps to running as efficiently as they should be Edit: I also read, or saw a Nazim interview on youtube, where he kinda gave off the notion that Hopkins doesn't need a baby sitter. So I assume Nazim is devoting more time to Mosley/May rather than Hopkins/Jones
It's not clear who these sources are. It's presumed the source that says Floyd is looking great is not from his camp, and if he is, it would be outrageous for that same source to be close to the Mosley camp as well. Though the relationships are not explicit, I doubt a fairly respectable site would release such ridiculous reports.
Fighthype do hug Floyds nuts pretty hard, Im a fan but have to call it, dont take 'sources' too seriously
It wouldn't surprise me if sparring partners were giving Shane problems. Shane is 38. He's taken a lot of hits in his career. Guys like him can fall off the cliff at anytime. Time will tell on this one.
Well, fighters when they get up there in age always start to struggle more and more with sparring. They get partners who dont push them as hard, go for less rounds, pick them better, have to focus more time on conditioning... Its very possible that Shane isnt looking his best right now. Struggling in camp isnt necessarily indicative of a careless and unprepared team. Its usually more indicative of a fighter starting to slip.
Naz is only a strategist, he only needs to finetune Mosley and lay down the gameplan. I doubt his physical absence will prevent him from actually describing the gameplan and such to Mosley, and he'll have 3 weeks in person, which will be more than enough for finetuning.
The "careless and unprepared team" is in referance to the article which says Mosley is yet to spend any time to work on a gameplan with Nazim. Like I said, these reports aren't to be taken seriously. Even if he is having a hard time in sparring (which is a good thing), I'm pretty sure Shane by the end of camp will be in the best possible condition he can be at that age.
Team Mayweather taking a page out of the Freddie Roach training camp media strategy. Mayweather is knocking out sparring partners much like Pacquiao spars 20, 10 minute rounds and Amir Khan sprints 30 second miles. Nothing to see here.
translation of floyd supposedly knocking people out in sparring. (only a fool'd beleive fraud's fakery) fake source: "Floyd's scared and feeling the pressure of having to fight a real beast so we are putting it out there that Floyd is now a knockout artist like Tyson so that hoopefully Shane will buy our bluff and on may 1 become a lil tentative and not rush in and knock Floyd out like he did Margarito."
Floyd's latest "tweet". "Late night run last night…That’s right fans while my opponent is tucked away sleeping I am training."
why would he spar fw's when he is fighting a bigger guy that gets physical and uses his strength and power to push u around.makes no sense:deal
