:rofl he beat the last 3 REAL champions in the division and it's "terrible"? Hahaha...grow up. Yes, we wanted him to fight Cotto (well, I didn't as a Cotto fan) and now Pac, but it's terrible?! Hahaha...oh children. You do remember that we also wanted to see him against Hatton, Judah, and Mosley don't you? Ahhh of course not.
Whattt ??? We wanted Kosta & Cotto and now Manny. Maybe Judah before Kosta knocked him out and Mosley before he was 39 and off his longest layoff. A layoff of 16 months when your 39 with no tune up is outrageous.
Well it is even weaker than ppl think who try to downgrade it. The only true WW he faced not well past his prime was Judah and he put Floyd on the canvas. Floyd is not any younger now. WW - forget Manny he would have a tough time with Cotto, Clottey or Margarito right now.
The person doing most of this overrating is probably PBF himself! it's a fair point. at WW Floyd hasn't taken on too many tough challenges and god knows he's had plenty of chances to do so. most overrated in history is probably a bit strong but we'll never know just how overrated or underrated he truly is /was because WW's time as the most competitive division around is pretty much over. That's the real shame and the reason why, in 15-20 years he'll be remembered like Calzaghe - brilliant career, kept the donut on his record but how good could he have been?
He is the greatest boxer in terms of nautral ability and opp who do not have 3 of the following 4 - Power, Speed, Youth, Movement. If you have 3 of those you won't get a crack at him.
Out of curiosity what was SSM's welterweight ranking at the time? Which fighters were ranked higher that Floyd could have faced?
off a 16 month layoff when your 39 with no tune up bout it is not facing the SSM who was ranked #1. floyd fans love that arguement about rankings but right now he finally has the #1 WW and the #1 P4P right here wanting to fight him. Once again he has went into retirement just when the going is tough at WW. The 2 points in time when he retired represent the toughest opposition for him. It can't be a coincidence.
Floyds carreer went up like a rocket till he hit welter, there it became a steady line that he sees as the ultimate best ever and therefore gets picked apart, welterweight floyd has no right to claim the greatness he sees resumewise.
