Meh...I already respected him as a fighter. But who else was he going to fight? Mosley had been calling him out and is still one of the top welters today.

If you respect him as a man, then you must have played ball together.

Floyd has nothing to win (other than a nice payday) and everything to lose by fighting Mosley. Therefore, respect to him for taking the toughest fight out there.

Floyd will get tons of credit for beating the number one welterweight out there.

You really think he has nothing to gain here?

this is the kind of fight he should have been taking at the outset. it's great that he has decided to take this fight instead of the hatton fight.

Nothing to gain? How about cementing his legacy? How about winning over a future first ballot HoFer?

Floyd supposed to take the fights, especially if you are claiming to be a great one. If he does not take the Mosley fight- what else is he supposed to do? Retire?

Everything to lose? You mean the '0'in his record. You know that is not the end of the world. Ask Ali, Duran, SRL, Hagler, SRR, etc. They dont have perfect records either.

It is this '0' mentality that has kept him fighting the best in the past several years or so. I can't believe people give out credit for taking fights. That is like getting the bonus points during your SAT when writing your name correctly. :/

The haters will NEVER give Money the respect he should have been getting for years now. It's a double edged sword. He's damned if he does, he's damned if he doesn't. He's the #1 P4P fighter in the world, beat the legit Ring champ at WW, fought a prime and much bigger Oscar at his his weight class (154), and beat the #2 and #3 P4P guys respectively (Hatton and Marques). And this is all just in the last couple of years.

GODDAMN! What more does he have to do gain some respect from the haters?!

But yet you'll suck Manny dry for fighting a Cotto/Margarito leftover. Truly pathetic.

Only as much respect as anyone else - e.g. Berto - would have got for fighting Mosley. Floyd's history of being a **** doesn't mean he deserves any more credit when he finally gets his arse in gear.

    Fair enough.

I meant that he is widely expected to win yet most say that Mosley will be one of if not the toughest fight of his career. If he wins, some will write it off bc Mosley is old, inactive, etc. There is no pressure on Mosley here.

Cash cows are usually sheltered by promoters and opponents are carefully selected. I'm just happy we get to see this as it's rare these days.
