of course floyd handpciked oscar, floyd was practically begging for that fight. oscar gave it to him - and subsequently now owns a piece of floyd

    prolly just a coincidence right ; )

Why would you give respect to him for taking this fight?

He's the P4P King, geez! He's been ducking Shane Mosley for a while now (A fight that should have been made sooner!)

So, no respect, sorry Floyd

but u just said in the other post that mosley handpicked mayweather. Yet according to your own logic we can see it was mosley who has been begging to fight floyd. So how can mosley handpick him. :rofl:rofl

Respect for both Teams and Fighters for this big step up. I am one of the same opinion that they would never meet in these sad days of the boxing business unless there were bigger fights/ bigger risks to fight for and with Manny Pacquiao's recent demolishing of Hoya, Hatton and Cotto and with Paul Williams, there's simply no big money fights left unless they fight each other... Still respect for both camps. FINALLY it happens.

I absolutely respect Mr. Mayweather for taking this fight. This is the fight I wanted to see him in before Pacquiao anyway. I admire Floyd's ability, but think he carries himself like a punk. The whole "Money" Mayweather character is pretty stupid and if it isn't a character then I like him even less. But, he took the fight and I think it will be a good one. I hope Mosley wins, but think it will be a decision win for Mayweather.

rooney the definition of a handpick is when one guy wants a big name opponent because he is very confident to win. floyd knew oscar was a part time boxer unwilling to walk through the fire. oscar was a handpick by floyd.

mosley knows floyd is overrated and lacking confidence to test his skills against the best at 147. mosley begged but only got it because HBO and GB forced floyd to take it.

(on the other hand Oscar handpicked Pac becasue he thougth Pac was too small)

Again, why do people have to give him some kind of praise for taking the fight? What the hell???? You make it sound like as if this is some kind of extraordinary thing he is doing. How about the 51 other fights SSM had. Do you guys sing them praise for taking, not even winning, the fights?

It is unusual - as if you guys are saying that he never took a big fight before. I really hope that is not what people are saying - that PBF never took risks?

Because giving him credit for taking the fight (before winning it) is confirming that PBF does does not take risks. Is that what people are saying? I hope not. That is what his critics are saying. But if you give praise to taking the fight then you are agreeing with them. It is called irony.

If you give him credit, you are actually undermining his credibility. Give him credit when he wins - just like you would with any other boxer.

Don't give Pac credit for taking on Barrera. Don't give credit to V Klit for taking on Arreola. Don't give credit to BHop for taking on Pavlik.

Give them credit because THEY WON!!

No bonus points for signing contracts. That is what the money is for. The only time I would give credit before the fight is if you are a heavy underdog and/or nothing to gain. PBF is not. He is a good favorite on this against a future HoF.

Because it was these haters who were saying he would sign to fight matthew hatton, malagnaggi and would avoid shane like the plague. He hasn't done that. So those people who were saying that need to give him respect for taking the fight.

I respect Floyd's skills, but the guys he has fought have not been as tough as they could have been. Shane is a good choice for Floyd. If Floyd beats him he gets credit no matter what. No one will argue about the fact that Shane is still a good fighter and he is champion. Many people say that Duran was somehow not that good when Hearns beat him, but the fact was Duran is given credit for fighting Hagler 7 months before he fought Hearns, and he fought Hagler at a higher weight then he fought Hearns , and for Hearns he was a champion of the WBA (a title he won by Davey Moore the year before), so it was a unification had the WBA not stripped Duran for not fighting McCallum. Duran was still a very good fighter and that is why Hearns deserved respect and if Floyd wins he deserves respect. I figure when a guy is champ in that same division there really is not much of an excuse people can use. If Floyd beats Shane he beat a fellow champion at the same weight. Good win.
