He is riding his title of P4P #1 too much. The boxing world makes fighter do so much to get their status, why shouldn't they do just as much to keep it? I'm sorry but if Floyd does fight Oscar, he needs to be dropped from the #1 spot. Then new #1 would go to Calzaghe or pac depending what happens in their next fights. :deal

I acknowledge that their is another thread about Pac becoming #1 with a win, but I NEEDED to start my own about Floyd in general. :good

I can see your point, but don't really agree. He is a brilliant fighter, one of the best ever, but if he doesn't have a mandatory challenger, he can fight who the **** he wants, or just give up his title and fight who he wants anyway!

Titles don't mean jack **** these days.

how about from the top of the empire state building?

your right,he cant realistically lose his linear ww title or pfp title, because he doesnt fight guys with any chance of taking them.
he can reign another 10 years.

Exactly. You know what I honestly see happening if Pac beats JMM. Watch for Floyd to fight Oscar and then fight Pac at a catch weight. :deal

if calzaghe has a big year fighting

    Hopkins
    Jones
    dawson
    pavlik

    n maywetaher fights oscar

then calzaghe should be number 1 considering if pac loses

Pac isn't in Mayweather's league. If Mayweather stayed at 130 he'd win every round against Mr Predictable and beat him down so how can Fanny Pac be no1? He can't and if Marquez isn't past it or robbed he'll win anyway. Now is Marquez P4P no1 or Chris John?

well he wants to go out with a bang , i say he wont retire! even reading his books he says he doesnt think he himelf could stay retired! he will fight hopkins in april , jones in septemeber then dawson in febuary! if he fought them then he would surpass mayweather in P4P rankings! as his recent competition would be a hell of alot better than a dela hoya mayweather 2 fight!

Possibly even more important than losing status as #1 p4p, Floyd may risk losing respect of the paying fans who are tired of bull**** fights like the proposed PBF-DLH pattycake waltz. Of all the guys who talk big about fighting Floyd, Hatton was the one who Floyd decided offended him enough to get a fight. Now he's regressing to fighting Oscar, who showed his true colors in the track meet with Trinidad. You'd think a guy who talks all that smack would be eager to meet the challenges of Cotto or Williams instead of becoming the straight man in Oscars traveling road show.

Mayweather has been P4P #1 for 3 consecutive years.

Only Julio Cesar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker were P4P Kings for 3 consecutive years. Mayweather has tied them.

Maybe PBF should have been P4P no1 after RJJ got beat in 2004. HE was certainly performing at a higher level than BoringHops was at that time. But neither fighter did anything in 2004

P4p status is not a real title, you dont have to be beaten to have it taken away, if Pac or Calzaghe or someone else proves enough to be considered the best then it should be it.

The reason I think Mayweather is number 1 is not just because he has beaten some top names but H2H aswel, I beleive that if Mayweather naturaly weight 210lbs he would be Undisputed heavyweight champ, same with the strawweights...
