You are correct, cotto had the right game plan but anyone who pays attention to detail knows that cotto was in a point in his career where he couldn't sustain the pressure (stamina i guess) past the 6 or 7 round. Although Floyd was handling Ortiz fairly easy. Ortiz was just beginning to apply pressure and was making Floyd a little uncomfortable. Don't think he could have pulled it off anyway though. Before the fight i actually thought Maidana was going to use the same strategy but I didn't think he could sustain the attack for 12 rounds cause he has gotten winded before in the later rounds of his fights. even though Maidana got a little tired like i expected. I still think he won enough rounds for a draw and even a 1 point win.
I wouldn't mind if he fought Danny Garcia for the lineal title at 140. I'm pretty sure that's the only division Floyd hasn't won the lineal title in his 5 weight class campaign. But he's been fighting at 147 for almost a decade now and even though he's not a big puncher in the weight class, he still has enough pop to stun his opponents and keep them honest. I'm sure he feels he can still beat anyone at 147 or 154.
