Lopez wasn't drained. They didn't fight at 133, which would have hurt him because he's already said that he's killing himself to make 135.

And I'm sure Lopez isn't going to fight his next five fights at LopezWeight (136 pounds).

This. Canelo was a unified champion that had 40+ fights and over 200 rounds of experience under his belt when he fought Floyd, so Canelo definitely wasn’t green. Most fighters finish their careers with much less experience than that nowadays.

Excuses come in every flavor, the essence of Ginger is no different.

Floyd greatest move of his life, is taking advantage of DLH need for that fight at that moment. DLH gave Canelo his blueprint from the Bernard Hopkins fight.

Whatever Canelo does for the rest of his life, pays ATG-dividends to Floyd Legacy.

    Let's unravel this..........

    A retired WW, who:
    1. spent the majority of his career below 140
    2. is 43
    3. has never weighed more than 152 lbs in a professional fight

Needs to "run it back" versus an active/still currently in his prime, 30 year old fighter that has fought as high as 175? What purpose does this serve? Floyd schooled him...............he was taught a lesson, there's no excuse. There's an abundance of top guns that were Canelo's age (when he fought Floyd) and have scalps of HOF'ers. Floyd personally did this, so did Oscar, Vargas.......hell Teofimo just did it. Canelo couldn't get the job done when he had him in the ring.................this will follow him forever. Get over it

That's them and pacquiao himself. If pacquiao retired id have no problem with it because he's well past it but he's still fighting by his own decision.

He was 36, not 37. It's funny that you exaggerate Mayweather's age and call a Close Majority Decision a domination. Mayweather was in Prime shape that night and he had all the advantages. Canelo put up with all of Maywaether's A-side demands and still ended up giving him the fight of his life.

At this point Canelo would punish Mayweather, he's far removed from the sport and has no reason to chase this fight. He's not like other 40 year olds who are motivated to train hard at this age. Mayweather has nothing to prove and coming back to fight Canelo now would not be a smart move. The rematch should have happened at 154 in 2014, but Mayweather wanted no part of another 12 rounds vs Canelo after being taken to the limit the first time.

    WHAT???!!!
explain to me "close majority decision" in the real world, or would you rather start a new thread asking if **** suddenly became legal on boxing scorecards during floyd v canelo.

seriously, you can't play that card with a straight face...

Mayweather is well past his best days. I don't think there's any chance he'd face a much bigger Canelo at this point. He'd have little to no chance of winning. Mayweather beat Canelo cleanly when he was younger. That's good enough for me.

Half of those fights for Floyd were championship level fights. Canelo, to that point, had ONE top level guy, Trout. And even, Trout has proven to be more Oba Carr than an elite.

but forza's point was that canelo was green.
of course there's a difference in experience between canelo and floyd based on who they fought.

From what I understand, Canelo didn't have much of an amateur career. So how much of his first 40 fights were mainly OJT?
Canelo is head and shoulders above what he was back when he fought Floyd (Unless you're Pimp C, then canelo has not improved one bit  ). Clearly there was a lot of improvement to be had since.

I understand what people mean when they say he was "green." My opinion, GBP put him in w/ Floyd too soon. We're talking about a 23yo w/ very little championship experience versus the universally crowed top boxer in the world, with what, 20 championship bouts already under his belt?

i wasn't expecting you to be combative on this tbh.
canelo was the man at 154.

the fight was made during a small window of opportunity.
canelo was outgrowing 154 and 154 was floyd's limit, which is why he only fought blown up welters there.

    it was then or never.

Not only that it was Canelo who called PBF out and really wanted the fight. It was Canelo who offered the fight at a catch weight. Canelo wasn't green but if you want to say that then PBF was faded. You can't have it both ways.

I wasn't being combative. Just pointing out the difference in each guy's '40+ fights' when they fought. Sure, there was a short window. Except when you think about how Canelo fought at 154 as late as 2016, and Floyd fought Berto in 2015, his last official boxing fight. My opinion, it was rushed.

Anyway, was just explaining the difference in the # of fights in regards to some saying canelo was green when they fought.
