bottom line is the fight was a serious floyd masterclass though. i know you're a detractor, but you're also a straight shooter on the forums too.
Absolutely, Floyd schooled him. No excuses at all from me. I never liked Floyd, but i'll give him his props (And even defend him on occasion). Thanks man, appreciate the kind words.
it doesn't mean you have to agree with me, but i also know you're not going to do that if you don't agree. i remember having a chat with you a few years ago when you were being pretty disrespectful to people on here (i don't know if you remember), but i'm legit proud of how you approach people and break them down for the most part now. respect.
I don't recall, but I have no doubts I was a major jerk at times.. I tended to respond to those I saw as disrespectful themselves in the manner in which they post. Wasn't my best look. Now I just put them on ignore. too many people think talking sh*t equals knowledge, so I just talked sh*t back. Especially with how many make troll accounts. And of course, I got out of hand. I've never had any problems admitting I was wrong here. Guess even after 40 one can still grow. Again, I appreciate the words. You're a good person!
and so are you. i'm not saying that to judge you. it's seriously impressive to see you breaking down people with your mind now. and you keep it humble for the most part, which is critical.
You don't respect Floyd for taking on a 22 year old undefeated champion at age 36 because there was a catch weight at 2 pounds under 154 volunteered by canelo himself to secure the fight but you'll respect prime Canelo for dragging 43 year old Mayweather out of a 3 year retirement to fight at a weight he never has and never was never built to fight at?
23 yr old world champion Ray Leonard, Benitez, Hearns weren't "green" at this age... Clenelo had already been world champ for years. Listen Floyd spanked that ass and made him quit in that ring. Floyd could be 50yrs old and beat Clen. It just is what it is.
GBP didn't "put him in" with Floyd too soon because GBP, particularly DLH advised Canelo against fighting Mayweather. It was Canelo himself who went against GBP's advice and chased the fight anyway knowing he would be at a disadvantage. Canelo the warrior as he was still took the fight and adhere'd to Mayweather's demands since that was the only way Mayweather would fight him.
Canelo certainly wanted the fight, while Golden Boy did not because they knew that had no negotiation leverage and Canelo would be fighting an uphill battle. But Canelo didn't "offer" the fight at a catchweight, that's part of the big lie from the Mayweather camp. As you know, Canelo was asked in an interview in 2011 if he was interested in fighting Mayweather and the idea of a catchweight was brought up (by the interviewer). At that point, Mayweather was not a 154-lb champ, at that time Mayweather was fighting exclusively at 147 so a catchweight would make more sense at that time. Canelo of course said yes he's interested in fighting Mayweather, that was spun into Canelo wanted a catchweight. What happened next was Mayweather moved up to 154 to fight Cotto and insisted he fight him at Cotto's best weight so there would be no excuses. At that point, the catchweight made no sense since Mayweather beat Cotto at 154 and won the 154-lb title. For Mayweather's team to then use the 2011 interview as a means to claim that the catchweight was Canelo's idea was total BS. Canelo was answering a question that the interviewer posed to him about a catchweight back when Maywether was fighting at 147. This was a dishonest tactic by Mayweather to claim that Canelo wanted the catchweight, in reality Mayweather was very worried about fighting Canelo knowing how good he was and how much of a threat he was, so he used his A-side tactics and lies like Canelo wanted the catchweight to con the public into believing that he wasn't behind the catchweight.
