I could not agree more. Absolute clinic, I don't think he lost a minute of that fight never mind a round. Floyd might well be a questionable human being, but then, we all contain multitudes, don't we, but he was sublime...
I give Mayweather all the credit in the world for convincingly beating Canelo. Credit where credit is deserved. Mayweather was a master defensive fighter. He had one of the best defenses ever. Canelo was not able to get past it and opened himself up to counters trying. Pacman and many others had the same problem with Mayweather.
It is an excellent win, no doubt. The fight was a lot closer that most say it is though imo, Canelo had a few pockets of success and was still a bit rough around the edges technically, which Floyd of course exploited masterfully. He definitely changed his style a fair bit after the Floyd fight and improved a lot afterwards but beating any version of Canelo is no easy feat and to do so with such finesse at the age of 36 while being noticeably smaller is a tremendous accomplishment.
It was a catch weight fight though. That matters, if it didn't why would they have them? Canelo barely scraped by Trout at the time. He hadn't come into his own yet. At 160 prime Canelo paddles Floyds ass.
The only way Canelo beats Mayweather is by growing too big for Canelo. Canelo's bigger frame allowed him to mature into heavier weights. Mayweather's defense was just a step ahead and many great offensive fighters had trouble dealing with it, including Canelo. Canelo gives Floyd fulls props by the way.
All of those where at weight with no rehydration clause that was the only difference from those other fights why it don't hit the same but he still gets mad credit for schooling the boy
Surely you aren't saying that you credit Manny for beating Cotto in a catch weight but not Floyd beating Canelo in a catch weight? No one has been so open about their hypocrisy before.
140 he was one weight behind cotto What weight did Floyd come from, 147, one weight behind Canelo What is your point?
Don’t think Floyd should be described as “over the hill” either , it’s arguably the sharpest and most on point we’ve ever seen him, he was razor sharp that night. Excellent display. As for Canelo, green could be considered the wrong word but it’s blindly obvious he wasn’t the fighter back then that he went on to become.
Atleast you're honest about being so biased and hypocritical. But don't be surprised when those who are being more objective view the catchweights in a similar vein.
