Since he's clearly declining and doing nothing. I see him knocked off the top spot by the end of 2008 when other fighters are doing more. I can't stand to see when people say 'Floyd deserves to be P4P #1', when his 2007 year was nothing in the way of impressive, neither was his 2006 year, both were impressive in the amount of money he made, which seems to be dominating on what his idiot Joy Boy fanbase thinks matters. Even though Marquez beat Pac and didn't get the decision, they both have more P4P claim to the #1 spot on recent resume than Floyd. Floyd can trump both in skill and ability, but he's on the slide guys and depending on what other top P4P fighters do for the rest of this year, he needs to be moved down. Wasting 2008 by rematching DLH is ridiculous, Calzaghe beating Hopkins by domination and decisively beating Dawson throws him up to the #1 spot, IMO. Pac beating a David Diaz and then a decent LW would also do it(but I feel he'd lose). This absurdity has to end, he's only at P4P #1 because there are no other current options due to the state of the sport - The sport has many fantastic fighters coming up that are just starting to get recognised and you can't even suggest on the typical P4P scale that Joy Boy is no longer #1. He's not there because he deserves it, because he clearly doesn't, he's there because other things have yet to unfold.:yep On a correct P4P criteria, he'd be 3 or 4 as it stands NOW.:good
I don't see it happening. Once a guy reaches that p4p#1 status it's very rare for him to lose it without losing in the ring.
If (or when much rather) Calzaghe beats Dawson, he can claim the no. 1 spot. Pacman is in decline, and no one but Cotto seems to be a threat. Only if Mijares beats Montiel - it would be a fight for the no. 1 spot.
Mijares would have to wipe 115 clean totally for that, not just Montiel, but throw in a Donaire and a few others also and they all have to be incredible dominant victories, no close fights. We judge them on how they are won. That makes the DLH and Hatton wins less impressive.
Fair enough, but Donaire+Montiel throws him on top of Calzaghe, imho. It's harder to look good vs a prime elite fighter, which is why Calzaghe's victory over Kessler stand out, while a win vs Hopkins won't matter much. You forgot to mention PBF vs Baldomir.
Hes 1 for now but 1 more top win for Pac or 2 more wins from Calzaghe and they overtook him. Example, Pac beats David(decent) and then goes on to beat Juan, Campbell or Casa and provided Floyd dont do anything 2008, he overtakes him. If Calzaghe beats hopkins and then goes on to beat someone like Pavlik or Taylor, he also overtakes Floyd.
For calslappy ifoughtnobody to take the #1 spot Floyd and Pacman and Cotto would have to lose there upcoming fights and Calzaghe would have to knock out Bhop and whoevers next after that. That clown gets points deducted for not being able to stop manfredo FOR REAL and not pushing him against the ropes while missing every single slap.
If Pac or Calzaghe get a big win soon, and Floyd signs Oscar and Hatton back to back, he is off my list as the #1.
when was the last time he posted about floyd? amsterdam hardly ever talks about anyone other than guzman, mijares and calzaghe.
