Vitali was BEATING Chris Byrd and ahead in the scoring when he developed his shoulder problem...it wasn't like Byrd was truly proactive in that fight. C'mon SQ, it's a little silly to still hold that loss against him considering his ballsy stand vs Lewis and his fine performances in victories since then. Plus, he's even bigger than his bro and takes a better punch.
Jackson was a beanpole, powderpuff puncher who only had the ability to absorb punishment and get back up. He could not box and could not punch. There are guys like that in damn every decent gym.
Don't waste your time. He loves pulling out that single fight from Vit's career. Meanwhile, some of the crap fighter's he champions have dozens of blithely excused fights on their tally.
Jackson had 2 things most fighter's don't have 1. Freakish Strength. I am talking ****** strength. You could not move him around in a clinch. 2. Incredible stamina- The man could throw punches non stop like a hurricane for 12 rounds and never get tired. Jackson was very hard to outpoint. Coupled with his 6'3 and 80" reach
why don't you tell us all how Adamek and Haye can crack the top 5 today, but Patterson wouldn't even be able to crack the top 10. Love to hear that one
Both are leagues above Jackson, Rademacher and Harris in skill and talent. I would probably pick both over Johanssen, also, though Ingo would only need one punch against Haye. That was a wretched era for heavies.
He had freakish strength for the time. He is a scrawny beanpole by today's standards and wouldn't rank in the 25 strongest heavies.
Give him modern nutrition/supplements/benefits he would walk into the ring today at 220lb...easy. Jackson would be one of the strongest heavyweights of today, and he wouldn't need steroids to prove it. Vitali got BANNED from the olympics for using steroids
Who is this Johanssen? I often see this name on the forum,is he a Norweigan relative to Ingemar JohansSON? If you are going to write him down at least take the time to spell his name right! Blasphemy!
