    What does that mean ?

Floyd was injured, before the bout, and recuperated after the bout.

    You want names.

    A) Buster Watson, Floyd's cornerman was lifting Floyd off the canvas
in between rounds, to help stretch out his back and help alleviate the pain.
Everyone at the Convention Center saw the trouble Floyd was experiencing with his back.

    B) Dr. Michael Blatt had examined Floyd on the Wednesday before the bout, and had
diagnosed that Floyd had dislocated a disc in his back.

I'm just surprised Pepe isn't trying to insinuate that Ali went over to Floyd's house during the night, jumped full force on Floyd's back while he was asleep, then ran out.

Floyd himself said that he threw his back after throwing a wild left hook at the end of the 4th or 5th (in "King of the World"). Between the 6th and 7th you can see Floyd's corner lift him up under the armpits for the first time.

    Bokaj,

Floyd's cornermen were Buster Watson and Mickey Allen.

Cassius Clay knew Floyd had a back injury, everybody in Las Vegas knew.

One week before the bout, Floyd required help every night to get into bed in his room
    at The Dunes Hotel.

So though Cassius won, it was not some 'superlative performance'.

And, after that bout, Floyd did not return for 10-months, as he was
under the care of 'Chiropractor' Dr. Reginald Gold, who helped repair Floyd's
    5th Lumbar Vertebrae.

Floyd had had that back injury for years, by his own account. Also by his own account, it made itself a factor towards the middle rounds, when it was already moree than clear where the fight was heading.

    Let's recap.

    So far The Greatest:

Won the title from a tired old drunk who was probably on the take.

Defended it against the same old drunk.

Defended it again against a man with a bad back injury.

    Keep it coming Senor.

    This is impressive and informative.

U 4got 2 mention that his previous 2 fights prior 2 getting that undeserved title shot @ that old drunk were :
    1) getting a gift decision that he did not deserve against a lightheavyweight fighting at heavyweight

    2) cutting d 1 most cut prone fighter in his division after receiving a criminally extended break between rds , probably using loaded gloves and receiving smelling salts during that much needed extended break between rds , illegally of course .

You´ve got a very depressing imagination then. Poor guy. :-(

Not ignored but your question was already answered before you even asked it. Read up, Floyd´sdoc said he would need 10 days rest for it to get better. He didn´t have problems with his spinal disks but rather with his muscles in his lower back. Perhaps some muscle spasms or a pinched nerv or something. Which is all easy treatable and would need just some rest for getting better. :good

    Cassius Clay vs Floyd Patterson

Floyd had worked his way back to the #1 Contender before this bout.

Mickey Allen, one of Floyd's cornermen said that if Floyd had pulled out
of the bout and asked for a postponment, he would never get another
    chance at the Heavyweight Championship.

I believe Floyd went through with this bout to satisfy all the people
who wanted him to win, instead of fighting the bout for himself.
