    He changed his style after the Liston disaster.

    Started using the jab more and less brawling tactics, like

    in the last gif. Able to keep up with top heavies like Jerry Quarry

    and Jimmy Ellis(Was Robbed Against), and Wins over Bonavena and Chuvalo.

    Honestly he should have got the Ellis win. That really sucks on the resume since it was a title. That gave a lot of the top dudes reason to avoid him- Would have loved to see him and Chuvalo in their heydays.

    I also had him ahead on my cards in the second Ali fight before the stoppage. Which is incredible considering it was a 38 year old Patterson
