I'm going with Patterson to be knocked down early then to knock out Page late in the fight. Thoughts?

Page had a very good chin that's about all I'll give him so I'll take Floyd to out hustle him all night.

Floyd was far more skilled than Page and had a fantastic trainer.

    Patterson.
He was great. Page too horribly inconsistent to be favoured here.

I'm going Patterson as well but over 15 rounds. As was mentioned here already, Page had a terrific jaw.

If Page was on point, I would pick him to win by decision or late stoppage. But given his rep, most likely he would show up out of shape and disinterested. So I would say Patterson by wide UD. And as mentioned before, Page had a very good chin, so Floyd wouldn't be flooring him.

I go with Page .. much bigger, stronger, tougher and harder hitting .. Page also had a terrific chin .. I see the fight kind of like Page's defeat of Marty Monroe, a pretty fast and skilled but much smaller heavyweight .. this is putting the best version of Page out there .. that said, Floyd;s greatest asset, even greater than his exceptional speed was his heart and courage and if Page matched that he would have reached far greater heights in his career ..

Floyd Patterson wins this fight on points, he was always in shape, and is the better boxer. Page would not go down because of the strength of his chin.

I’m leaning more towards Floyd but I see your point. Greg Page resembled the type of fighter who Floyd was kept away from during his championship days

I am a Floyd fan but other than Ali Floyd never fought a large, rangy, fast heavyweight boxer with serious reach and power .. Floyd was really a Cruiserweight and I my opinion should be gaged as such ..

well he DID fight Liston who had a longer reach than most heavies and more power as well. But Floyd got killed. So yeah, not the types of guys he’d generally fair well against.

Patterson was a great fighter when looked at from certain angles. He was a very young champion, Olympic gold medalist, repeat title holder and had some decent wins.. but I agree that he was one of the most vulnerable heavy champions and probably wouldn’t have faired well in too many other eras. He was protected for part of his reign. The men he should have been facing were Cleveland Williams, Eddie Machen, Zora Folley and Sonny Liston ( sooner. ) The fact that he was allowed to fight a debuting Pete Rademacher and bill it as a “ title fight “ was outrageous. If he were transplanted Into the 1980’s he’d have a hard time maintaining a top five spot competing with the likes of Weaver, Berbick, Page, Witherspoon, etc.... I’m not sure id even favor him to beat Gerry Cooney
