If there ever was a time for another Boxing Orginization, it was as soon as
Floyd Patterson signed to fight Pete Rademacher, in 1957.

Eddie Machen and Zora Folley could have fought each other 3-times, at least those
bouts would have been worthier than a Patterson vs. Rademacher joke.

 

Oh yes.

 

Ruh oh...In all fairness to me, I feel Bokaj is the one that really led us down this path.

 

And I'm not in the least sorry that I did.

Probably could have knocked Floyd Patterson down, too,,,,,,,,

But she does not look like an amateur,,,,,,,,she looks more like a 'Pro'

 

Floyd was never a true heavyweight. He was a great fighter but didn't have the size to deal with the new era of heavyweights. He was the last of the cruiserweight heavyweight champions.

 

Floyd got more respect after his 'heavyweight championship run'.

Clearly would have ruled the "Junior Heavyweight Division' from 1956 thru 1966.

His bout with Muhammad Ali was only made, because Floyd was 'Box Office Gold'.

 

Yet when Floyd passed, he and D'Amato were acclaimed in his obituaries for breaking the back of the IBC (in part by freezing out Machen and Folley from the title picture).

 

The IBC's monopoly should have been broken by government and laws.
But from a boxing fans point of view, the IBC were putting on better fights than D'amato wanted to sell the public.

I think boxing has seen worse monopolies since the 1970s than the IBC set up. There are no big independent promotions any more, just the same old promoters and the TV contracts. Most of the fighters don't even have proper managers, they just sign with promoters exclusive.

watch round 6 and then you'll know how patterson got a bad back - from taking continuous punches and he was leaning too far forward - takin all the shock in his spine. quite shocking to see what a beating he is taking. no let up from ali.
the 72 version did much better cuz he wasn't fighting the 65 ali LOL.

 

I didn't rate Ali's punching in this fight.
He's not putting any real steam behind those punches.
He should have been able to knock Patterson down clean, or knock him out, with the strength and speed he possessed, but he just doesn't punch well. It's frustrating.

 

well he said he wasn't gonna finish him before the fight cuz he called him clay. thought that was well know. he was punishing him for as long as possible - thats why the press had a go at ali for being a cruel ******* after the fight. same thing happened v terrell.
