Floyd Patterson vs Bob Satterfield (proposed Summer 1957 fight)

Satterfield actually had a few fights left in his career, before his late Nov. 1957 retirement.

Instead of fighting the recent amateur Pete Rademacher in August, 1957, Cus allows Floyd to fight a seasoned, dangerous pro in the 185 lb Satterfield (47-23-3 with 35 ko's).

Do we see "Ingo's Bingo"....but 2 years earlier???

Bad timing...satterfield was slipping badly by 1957 and Floyd was at his peak. Floyd knocks him out early at this point. Would have loved to seen this fight in 1954-1955...still favor Floyd but satterfield had a punchers chance.

    Floyd KO 1 Satterfield

Bob had a fine career. Take a look at the thread I posted of his knockout over bob baker in 53..exciting!

Viewing the Baker film....and others like it; i.e, Valdez fight, etc. gave me the idea to throw him in with Patterson, who would have had only the Moore & Hurricane Jackson bouts under his belt. but you have him getting "iced in one".
LOL !!!! Bob once again goes out on his shield.

Well you said summer of 57...satterfield hit a wall in 57 was losing to nobodies like Julio mederos. He retired soon after.

Satterfield beat baker and Valdes in 53 and 55...had Patterson fought him those years satterfield stands a much better chance

But maybe Bob could have taken advantage of a inexperienced Patterson ,the older wise guy against the young incoming new name .?
Perhaps surprising Floyd with a shot from no where that he walks straight in to ?

It's very much a case of who lands first probably wins, which is why I'd undoubtedly give Patterson the edge as Suzie pointed out Bob was on the slide at this point. If there were odds makers for this matchup you'd get pennies back for the fight going past the halfway mark.

Ol' Bob...with nothing to lose...training for an all out, 3-rd fight....but gets "comatosed" courtesy
    of Floyd in the end.

Based on your parameters, bob may have scored a KD but he wouldn't have kept him down. A sunday shot 'bingo' from Ingo? Shots from Liston? In Sonny's words: "I'd never hit anyone harder; I felt the effect deep into my back." The result? Floyd rising. IMO Floyd stops Bob at that time...my $0.02
