Two smaller heavies who are sometimes underrated. What they lacked in size and strength, they made up for with speed and technique. Patterson brought sizzling combinations and was the first peak a boo master. Byrd an awkward southpaw with cagey defense. Patterson 6'0, 71' reach, 195 lbs Byrd 6'2, 75', 210 lbs 12 rounds. Who do you got...?
Patterson all day. He would be one step ahead of Byrd all night. Byrd excelled against lumbering heavyweights who couldn't box very well. He holds no advantages over Patterson. Byrd might even get stopped.
Chris Byrd doesn't win a round. Patterson would fight him on the inside and flail away at his body and head with both hands. I'm surprised if it goes longer than six.
I would never pick Byrd against any of three Patterson-Ellis-Quarry trio. All of them were far too accurate, crafty, and pugilistically articulated to fall prey to Chris.
Give me Floyd in this mix up of undersized heavies. Byrd is no Liston in firepower and no Ali in skill.
This question has been asked before. I think this will be an excellent fight. I am picking Floyd Patterson by a close and somewhat controversial decision.
Patterson by 10-2 decision or something like that. Nice for someone to finally make a hypothetical Patterson fight he'd be favored to win.
