Who would win, both were fast around the same size had high ring IQ . Power: Patterson speed : Equal Chin : Holyfield Offense : Holyfield Defense : Patterson Footwork : Patterson Toughness : Holyfield Trainer : Patterson
Patterson was pure class. A very, very good fighter who just happened to be too small for the divison he competed in. Think he'd give Holyfield a tougher fight than any of his other ones at cruiser. Might even score a knockdown with that thundering left hook. But Holyfield is IMO too complete and would eventually stop Patterson.
Its awfully difficult not to look at the Qawi fights and on a primitive level the Tyson fights as a indication of how this would go; I tend to think that Patterson at Cruiser would give him a very good fight but it will nothing more than a gallant effort in a heartbreaking loss as Holyfield will overcome him and overwhelm him with each passing round. This won't last the distance- Holyfield TKO 9
Yes. He's been addicted to steroids since he was a 1-year-old, it's doubtful he would have ever learned to walk without them. And since he's the first and only fighter in history to have really used them, he deserves to keep them in all fantasy matches simply for showing such ground-breaking initiative.
Typical apologist reply. Sorry but the question begs to be asked when comparing a roided fighter vs a guy from yesteryear that didnt juice. And before you go talking out of your ass about how he didnt juice until he became a HW go ask Dwight Qawi's opinion on how a guy who was known for having bad stamina in 3 round amateur fights suddenly went 15 at top speed against the Buzzsaw in his 12th fight a year and a half after turning pro for a distance that was almost twice as long as the longest fight he ever had.
Since Holyfield was juiced from day 0 according to you, there's really no point imagining your non-juiced Holyfield. He'd probably be a featherweight, so had no business in the ring with Patterson. I've already heard Dwight Qawi's revised opinion on why he lost to Holyfield. What Qawi described (a late-round surge of stamina) sounds more like something administered during the fight, like Aaron Pryor's special bottle.
It's true, I am an apologist for all the professional athletes who are caught or believed to have used PEDs. Because, realistically, there are very few at the top level who never have. A fighter like Holyfield, of his body frame, who stood about 6 foot 1 and weighed about 210 in his prime, was likely a fairly moderate user of anabolic agents anyway, although certainly he could have used other drugs for stamina or whatever. Athletes have always taken stuff to give them an edge. And they will continue to. It's a winner's mentality, like it or not.
You're right, but you know that there are many naive people who believe that Seldon, Bruno, Wlad Klitschko, Anthony Joshua, Bryant Jennings and other heavy muscled HWs are completely clean just because they never got caught. Well I can say that Holyfield was also never caught before or after the fight. That Evan Fields story happened when Holy had a break from boxing. So he's as clean as any other heavy muscled HW
A lot of people had a problem with Holyfield because they'd written him off before the fact as "not a real heavyweight", then he went and kicked a lot of their favourite "real heavyweight's" asses. It's not fair, he put on 20 pounds or so in his prime ! Thing is, some "real" heavyweights have put on 30 good pounds or more in their primes and no one bats an eyelid. Frank Bruno was ripped and massive at 220 pounds and just as ripped and MORE massive at 248, bulked up pure muscle and never held an extra pound of fat. No one whines about him though.
