Frazier would overwhelm Tua with his movement and body punching. Byrd and Rahman were hurting him to the body and stood in front of him more than people like to admit. Tua is no Foreman, who could match Fraziers work rate , and put him on his heels. Tua went into a shell and waited for you.
Tua was the Deontay Wilder of the 90s, looks amazing knocking out C level comp or guys with questionable chins. As soon as he stepped up, the kos dropped.
Perhaps you should see his one round KO loss to Liston when he was flattened by left hooks .. do you even think at all before you spew this nonsense ?
The bottom line. You couldn't hand pick a better fight, to permit Tua to square the circle that he never squared in the real world, and he might still screw it up.
I never thought of that, but actually your probably right, Wilder would have schooled him. Tua like a complete moron jumped up into the ringpost in the last 10 seconds of the Lewis fight hoping to land something.
I think he meant Foreman was able to match Fraziers workrate with his own physical advantages such as pushing etc, whereas Tua wont have that. At least thats how i read it?
Tua and Mercer, two guys who never amounted to much in their own eras, always get a free pass when they time travel to other eras. I once had someone tell me Tyson was overrated and that someone like Ray Mercer could easily have replicated Tysons career. Tua kod Moorer (a guy who never had a good chin to begin with and was destroyed a few years earlier by Holyfield) Ruiz - A highlight KO. Ken Lakusta - Tua KO4 (Bruno did it in 1, Ruddock did it in 1, Old Foreman did it in 3, Coetzer did it in 3 and Botha did it in 1, straight after the Tua fight). Izon - Tua KO12 (Grant did it in 5, Oquendo did it in 3, Savarese did it in 5, Mesi did it in 9) Maskaev - Tua KO11 (Mccall did it in 1, Johnson did it in 4, Whitaker in 2, Sanders in 8, Peter in 6, Aguilera in 1) Oquendo - Tua KO9 (Ruiz KO11, i mean seriously....who did Ruiz ever KO? Oquendo even lost to grandpa Holyfield in 2006, So this is the mythical beast that knocks anybody out? a guy who struggled to churn out results even against the C grade fighters of his day? A guy who was behind on the scorecards against the above opposition? Seriously, does knocking out Oquendo, Izon, Lakusta and Ruiz really send shivers down anyones spine? Obviously for every Izon, theres about 10 Cisse Salifs and Cecil Coffees and Shane Camerons padded on the record.
Wilder doesn't look amazing vs. the actually mostly D-Level comp he's fought. In fact, even some of these stiffs have had him on the canvas. As for Tua-Patterson, this is a very bad matchup for Floyd. I see a Tua-Ruiz - or Liston-Patterson, if you prefer - type outcome in this one.
Tua would most likely **** Patterson up, but Frazier? Hell no. The difference between Wilder and Tua is that Tua seems to held in much more esteem. I mean i guess i can see why, after all Wilder Kos D level fighters and Tua Kos C level fighters, so i guess Tua does rank slightly higher.
In the early rounds. Foreman actually threw lots of punches, just constantly throwing bombs and pressing forward or pushing off, overwhelming his opponents. He had Frazier constantly moving and on the defense. Tua was a turtle, who waited and waited, awful approach to Frazier.
Tua has a punchers chance. It would be better than most only because Floyd Patterson was a fans champion. He would have stood in with Tua a few times to make it a fight for the crowd... That might be his undoing. But odds are Floyds speed and combos will frustrate Tua when Tua tries to square up. Floyd will make Tua look like an oaf.
Tua, Bruno, Ruddock, Old Foreman and Tommy Morrison all have one mutual opponent to my knowledge. Ken Lakusta. Morrison went the distance with him, the rest all Kod him, Bruno and Ruddock both did it in one, Old Foreman in 3 and Tua in 4. Tua hits hard, but hes nowhere near the monster hes made out to be.
