Tua isn't making Patterson work around a long jab and isn't timing him with right leads. Patterson would engage Tua at Will, too fast and mobile to get caught by a short armed plodder who loads up on left hooks. You need a right hand.
Tua's power, speed and strength are unquestioned. His limitations were exposed against a certain style of boxer, the type that the small, fragile and fragile chinned Patterson did not possess ..
I was referring my post to someone whod asked about Tua-Frazier. The chinless Patterson, Tua would KO with ease (and then get overrated for it)
Tua can be out boxed but if you fall asleep on him he turned you lights off. Besides Ruiz, which never ever in his career even washed up was never again handled like how Tua handled him.....Izon, Oleg, Oquendo and Rahman all met the same fate once they lost concentration. Comparing Patterson to Ibeabuchi is pure comedy....no way in hell is Patterson taking the shots Ike took and I believe Ike is way over rated. A in shape motivated pre Ibeabuchi Tua will ice Patterson faster than one can blink. Lennox Lewis used all of his 245 pounds, height.range and jab to out box a fat looking for a pay day Tua, translation , even that version was dangerous enough to have Lemmie go into safe mode, he certainly did not go blits a la Grant or Golata. Frazier? LOL, you would find his head in the cheap seats, he was bounced around like a ping pong ball against the only legitmate modern puncher he ever faced T W I C E.....Tua WILL take Fraziers left hook but Frazier WILL NOT take Tua's left hook, that is as good as death and taxes and land it will.
Yeah, you have a smallish, chinny modern-day cruiserweight against a powerpuncher. Flawed yes, but certainly a handful for someone who cannot get his respect. Very tricky fight for Floyd. The one caveat for Tua here is that Patterson was quick, if not terribly elusive. Tua could end up a points loser if he falls asleep. For me, the smart money is that Tua catches him sooner or later and poleaxes him.
PS Oquendo has demonstrated a very good chin through his career. He gassed once against Ruiz but that's it.
I'm still having trouble with Frazier standing right in front of Tua and doing really well. Tua had trouble with mediocre fighters, but these did not seek to engage toe-to-toe action every second the way Frazier would. This fight will not be fought at angles, or at distance, or in-and-out or in spurts. This will be like Ike and Tua, and despite Frazier being a better class of fighter, he's in with someone who is more durable and has a bigger punch. I think just think Frazier's chin gives out.
