Anyone give Patterson a shot against Holyfield? Personally I think this would be one hell of an interesting fight to see....
I'd probably give him a chance against the inexperienced Holyfield who fought Qawi. He would get broken down and beaten up by heavyweight Holyfield.
he wouldn't be stopped right away by Holyfield who wasn't the biggest hitter, but I can't see him withstanding the physicality to the distance 12 or 15 rounds. Holyfield head butts him and roughs him up and probably is in control much of the aside for a few rallies by Patterson, before stopping him in six or seven rounds.
I see Holy taking some damage early that wakes him up to take Patterson out after 5rds or so. When push came to shove I see Holy as having a harder shove then Floyd.
Patterson had the same peek a boo style as Tyson. He was the precursor to Iron Mike. Holyfield proved he could handle a bigger and stronger version of this, in the Holy/Tyson fight. Patterson gets taken apart in 5-6 rounds.
I can't predict an exact round or outcome but Holyfield is a huge favorite here. I just can't picture Floyd Patterson doing anything to win except perhaps catching him on an off night the way Michael Moorer did and squeaking by with a close decision. But that's a long shot.
one of the proven weakest chin vs one of the strongest chins ever?not even close..holyfield even at cruiserweight wins this, holy at 205 plus doesn't break a sweat.
At best, Patterson makes Holy look bad. As for winning, I just don't think Floyd is robust enough to take on Holyfield successfully. He may be able to hang with Evander if it's a pure boxing match, but he can't get pulled into exchanges.
As for pure HW at the second half of Holyfield's career I would agree that he could stop Floyd. At 190 I'm not so sure. Holyfield didn't, as another poster said, have one of the greatest all time chins ever. I saw him hurt on numerous occasions, not out mind you but hurt. And Floyd did pack a wallop. Of course we're talking the ol' eras difference again so I'll stop now.
