You always write this, this is Charles not Holyfield. Anyway this a close fight I'd probably lean towards Charles slightly.
Charles was way better, better puncher, boxer, chin. Pattersons style would force Charles to slug, and he was very dangerous when he did so.
Genuine 50-50 and very hard to pick. Charles a better technician and defence, Patterson quicker and more explosive. I think Patterson has the better workrate, stamina and movement Anything can happen
Patterson was the harder puncher and Charles probably had more moxie. Patterson was only stopped by huge punchers: Liston and Ingo or by accumulation: Ali. A terrific battle seeing Charles ahead in the early rounds. He stings Floyd and his face is battered. But a persistent Patterson turns the tide hurting Charles in the 11th round. Down the stretch Patterson turns the tables and batters Charles who is also game til' the end. Patterson UD 15 Charles.
