Floyd Patterson vs Jack Johnson. 15 rounds, 10 point must scoring 22x 22 ring. Size: Edge Johnson. 10-15 pounds, with a slight edge in reach. Hand and Foot Speed: Edge Patterson. Skills on offense: Edge Patterson Skills on defense: Even, Patterson has the higher guard, Johnson the better clincher. Power: Edge Patterson Stamina: Slight edge to Johnson Heart: Slight edge Patterson, as he proved he could get off the floor and win. Chin: Even, Patterson was only stopped by big punchers, until he was past his best. Ring Generalship - Clear edge, Johnson. ***Prediction***: Patterson via 10th round TKO. Johnson would have a tough time defending against Patterson faster and accurate punches, which also carried more power on them. His guard was too low, and his footwork a bit stationary. Johnson wasn't a big puncher, nor was he a high volume puncher, but I do think he could have some success smothering Patterson and using his size and strength to slow him down. I think the fight would be a good one, with changes in momentum until Patterson's superior firepower and work rate take over.
Patterson slowed down in the second half of the fight. This is one of those fights that could go either way. Johnson only stopped by Willard during the good part of his career and there is no way Patterson makes it to the 26th round. Then again...Johnson never fought anybody nearly as fast a starter as Patterson.
I know so it's highly unlikely for Patterson to knock Johnson out because he won't be able to take him in deep water.
patterson by ko, johnson never saw anything like patterson before, and hardly he would look big next to floyd, his archaic defence would not be effective against a fast demon like patterson
