Floyd Patterson vs Karl Mildemberger, 15 rounds. Another poster suggested this. but Karl did give Muhammad Ali a competitive fight on Sept 10 1966 before being stopped in round 12, Karl is a southpaw. Could Floyd put him away earlier?

I'm going to go with a Patterson W 15 here. Maybe a late rounds TKO.

I am also going with Floyd Patterson here. Floyd is much faster than southpaw Karl Mildenberger, so he would constantly beat him to the punch, especially with a southpaw killer right hand. Patterson stops Mildenberger just as Ali did in round 12, Mildenberger would hit the canvas twice before the stoppage of this contest.

We have to keep in mind Floyd never fought a southpaw. Floyd was a faster starter and I see him coming out fast for this fight, and knocking Mildenberger 2 or 3 times in the first few rounds. Mildenberger comes back to knock down Floyd. It then turns into a tactical fight, Floyd trying to figure out the southpaw stance and Mildenberger trying to penetrate the peek-a-boo. I have Floyd getting outboxed for a few rounds, and getting tied up when he lands a good hook or two. While clinched, Floyd gets home valuable body shots. Mildenberger slowly wears from the body attack, and because Floyd hits harder than Ali, Mildenberger succumbs in 10 by TKO. Knockdowns all over, @Richard M Murrieta ;).

Patterson for me. But Karl’s awkward style and southpaw stance could give him problems

Vic Brown was at least one southpaw he fought but he was a journeyman.

I didn't know that. Really what I meant by "no southpaws" was none worth mentioning.

Never saw the fight. But yeah I think Floyd was a versatile fighter who would have handled Karl Mildenburger pretty convincingly

Karl Mildenberger is best remembered for giving a prime Ali a competitive fight in their 1966 title fight. He was a decent southpaw boxer but not a particularly hard hitter. I remember when the WBA heavyweight tournament was set up in 1967, Mildenberger was matched with Oscar Bonavena. Karl was a heavy favorite going into the fight but my father picked Bonavena, saying that he would go through Mildenberger, which is what happened. Four knockdowns to an easy UD. Mildenberger just didn't have the power to keep Bonavena off him. Now, Patterson had little in common with Bonavena style-wise but he was a skillful boxer, fast, and a powerful puncher. He KO'd Henry Cooper in impressive fashion without cutting 'Enery. Also, while the WBA tourney was being set up, sports cartoonist Bill Gallo had a cartoon titled 'Advice to the Glovelorn' and in it he had " For Floyd Patterson - take on Karl Mildenberger. He's yours!" I pick Floyd to win this one. It should be a good competitive match with Floyd's speed and punching power giving him the edge and I would predict a stoppage around the 10th round.
