The age gaps between their primes, for myself is quite a large one, which is leaning me towards Patterson. Do you guys think Patterson's chances increase or decrease the older he gets?
This was already asked a few times. Best discussion was in here: https://www.boxingforum24.com/index.php?threads/72287/ Gesendet von meinem LG-H815 mit Tapatalk
On Max's side, see Louis I fight. On Floyd's side, see Ingo 2 fight. On Evaluator's side: "It's who gets there 'First-est with the Most-est' "
Watch Max at his best when he left a young dangerous Joe Louis on his face in the 12th round. This Max knocks out the best Floyd
The younger Floyd was less confident and in that scenario, I can see schmeling at his best catching Floyd time after time. He stops that Floyd somewhere around the 6 th with A sudden right. Floyd jumps up but in a echo of the Ingo fight ends up getting dropped several times till ref stops it. The older Floyd does the better work and keeps schmeling on the defensive with his swift hand work and hooks. He nails max in the tenth finally with a bolting left hook. Max doesn't make it back up.
Schmeling was either champion or a leading contender for a decade. He caused a sensation when he started fighting in the states. Record breaking crowds came to see him fight with throngs turned away at the gate. Max was truely a technician in the ring with an all time powerful right hand. His skill level FAR outpaces any hwt fighting today. Patterson was also a gifted fighter. Fast hands, good inside game, excellent boxer with good power. Both at their best it a tough fight to pick a winner. I could see Schmeling winning by KO or Patterson boxing smartly for a decision win.
