Sure but it’s not like Usyk doesn’t want to finish his opponents. When he can he will go for it. It’s just against higher skilled opponents he can’t pull it off.

Patterson went down a lot in his career that’s true. I would imagine he would go down against Usyk as well. But I imagine he would get up. Patterson did often get up from knockdowns. I just don’t think Usyk will finish him. Because Usyk has no track record of finishing the best fighters he has faced. And Patterson is elite despite his size disadvantage and some other flaws. But the combination of size and skill will be too much for Patterson to win on points. Either at 200 lbs or no weight limit.

This is an intersting one. For me, and I'm not comparing the two men, Chisora showed the kind of template you need to beat Usyk. A swarming, busy, aggressive style. You ain't outboxing him unless you are an ATG boxer, so my uncertainty comes from one thing. Does Usyk hot hard and often enough to deter Patterson and can his jab keep Patterson at his distance rather than allowing him to come into that swarming range? He beat Del comfortably but never looked comfortable in doing so as anomalous a statement as that sounds. I make this a very interesting fight!! I think a Tyson, a Holyfield, even a Qawi at LHW are the kind of fighters who will trouble Usyk, not give him time or space to practice his art. And Floyd was one of the architects of that style....could Patterson eke a decision here, the best version of Patterson?

At Cruiserweight this would be a great fight Patterson is faster than Usyk and has considerably better one punch power.

But Usyk has the reach and height advantage and better footwork/balance.

I think this would be a distance fight at Cruiserweight Patterson would be applying the pressure and giving Usyk problems. I think it's close fight honestly had there been a Cruiserweight division for Patterson H2H he'd of been one of the best of all time especially with his speed/power.

At cruiser, Floyd has a shot.

At heavyweight, Floyd would do his absolute best but would fall short.

I'm waiting for the thread that Usyk is better than prime Ali ... prime Ali would slice him up.

He had problems with Ali's tricky footwork, flicking jab, blazing hand speed, and elusive head movement. It wasn't simply because Ali was taller. Patterson KOd a man who was taller than both Ali and Usyk in 1 round.

The only things Usyk has in common with Ali is he has good ring IQ and can sometimes be elusive with his feet, but has a totally different style.

Usyk has just as good footwork and jab as well as being the best heavyweight southpaw ever and is amazing at distance control I really don't see Floyd being able to makeup that difference especially with someone who has solid defense like Usyk

Usyk has good defense, but he got tagged plenty by boxers like Joshua and Chisora. I don't see him gracefully avoiding getting nailed by the extremely fast and skilled Patterson for 12 rounds.

No, Usyk's jab is not as good as Ali's.

Not consistently and both hit harder then Patterson while Patterson defense also was pretty leaky and worse boxers then Usyk have been able to land and hurt him plus Patterson has 0 experience fighting southpaws.
Not as snappy and fast but its also pretty good also he's excellent at taking away orthodox jabs

People come here to laugh at one of the 25 or so greatest heavyweight champions who ever lived. And I am talking about Patterson.

Usyk will probably end up higher than that but I don’t rate fighters historically until they’re done.
