Cus was going to keep Patterson at 175 for 2 more years if Marciano had not retired. That sums it up for me.

  2. it is a very good point, damato was one of the most intelligent trainers ever. he avoided liston because he knew that styles make fights. but still i think that patterson might beat marciano in 1956, of course rocky might finish the fight with a single punch, but if floyd fight smartly he might outbox rocky, and patterson might hurt rocky, floyd was harder puncher than walcott, so he might hurt rocky too. in skill terms patterson was better than marciano by a mile. patterson in his prime was much better than many people think, he is seriously underrated

I think Walcott had harder punch, patterson had fast hands, and could occaionally come up with big blow, but he needed to have oppenent really set up for it. Johanson ko is one that comes to mind.

I think if Patterson did hurt Rocky it would not stop him, but if Rocky hurt Patterson it would be over.

What happens to teenage Floyd when he gets hit on the chin by a more experienced ATG undefeated champion? And then when he gets up, what happens when this ATG undefeated champion continues to throw a library of bonecrushers upon him? He's deader than a doornail.

Roy Harris, Pete Radamacher, Jean Jaques Roy, Tom Mcneeley, Brian London...all of these gooftroopers knocked Floyd down.

  5. like i said.... rocky was retired in 1956 in his early 30s if he was still great why he did not fight no more? like i said.. patterson might well beat him in 1956. ACCEPT IT, YOU WILL LIVE BETTER

Marciano wanted to retire before figt with Archie Moore due to worsening problems with Al Weil, hi smanager. Weil bulied Rocky's father, was not paying trainer, (Rocky picked up slack, payed him) and making Marciano's life miserable. He had no big fight on horizon after Moore, anothe reason he retired.

I think he means that Rocky KO'd better fighters than Liston KO'd.

Not that Rocky KO'd fighters who were better than Liston.
