Patterson pound Peter in a lopsided dec but Peter had Patterson trouble couple of time even dropping him in the process
The difference in class and skill is even wider than the difference in size. Thus, Patterson should be favored. Size doesn't mean anything if you are the much worse boxer, or does that only apply to old school heavyweights?
Patterson was a very nervous guy, he was terrified of Liston and even Cus knew Patterson's limits as a Heavyweight. It's not unbelievable that he would have possibly been scared to death of the size of someone like Peter and his power. I'm not saying it's not a winnable fight for Patterson but he was also matched up very carefully as champion.
Peter. You saw how he walked through a slippery James Toney. Say what you want about Toney being a blown up middleweight on steroids nobody did to him at heavyweight what Peter did. He beat him up and walked through him. Toney was much more durable than Patterson. Peter would hurt Patterson at some point and stop him.
I really hate to say this but even though Patterson is leagues better than Peter he was also KO’d by ingo. And I think Peter’s power was greater
This is why I think it's a bad matchup for Patterson, people here can hate it all they want but you need to make Peter respect you and I don't think Patterson has the power to do so similar to what happened with Toney, he hit Peter with huge shots but couldn't do anything to Peter. Toney had a much better chin thatn Patterson and was a much more confident fighter but that didn't mean anything to Peter. Patterson is more skilled but I likely see Peter stopping him or winning by decision while knocking down Patterson a few times.
If floyd stayed on the bike and boxed, he wins easily by decision. Patterson was lightyears better as a boxer.
