I really liked this article, very informative. I remember Oscar Bonavena losing to Zora Folley, on Feb 26 1965, by a decision. Oscar beat him 3 years later by decision. But he floored Joe Frazier twice on Sept 20 1966, only to come up short, losing a split decision to Joe. I liked seeing Oscar Ringo Bonavena fight, strong as a bull.

I can see Galento flooring Floyd but his slow feet would allow Patterson to recover once he was erect.Patterson would chip away at him and gradually mark him up, readying him for a late rounds stoppage.

I'd imagine Goldman was boosting his current charge Oscar with that statement.

Floyd kicks his ass. Multiple knock downs is right.

He does. Galento was actually pretty quick and had a dangerous left hook. No easy fight for Floyd.

There you go again, underrating Galento. I keep saying he was like David Tua.

How dreadfully wrong you are, Seamus. You continue to underrate Galento.

Regardless of what some say about Galento , he was a very tough guy both in and out of the ring. Film reveals him battling it out with top prize fighters of his day and plenty of testimonies declare that he would beat the shlt out of most average men on the street

Patterson’s speed should carry him to a victory. Tony was rough and nasty though, he’d strike with that hook with surprising quickness for a man of his stature. If he gets Floyd hurt and drunk he could definitely put some hurt on him. But I’ll go with Patterson, he beat Ingo 2 outa 3 and Ingos power was no joke, he even got up to win in the 3rd fight. If he gets hurt he should survive Tony.

I am going mainly on the testimony of his opponents, but a look at his opponetns records reveals some interesting things.

Charley Massera had 70 professional fights, and only two men KOd him.

One was Joe Louis, the other was Tony Galento!

Nathan Mann had 90 professional fights, and only two men KOd him.
