Completely different. Spence suffered a devastating car crash and is coming off a brutal stoppage at 147. Charlo is a weight class above Spence, is big for 154, has never been stopped and has physical advantages / explosiveness that Spence doesn't have.
Not to mention when there was talk of Spence moving up to face Charlo, Charlo was considered to be a big under dog
I think what Floyd is trying to say is Spence's body has overstayed the 147 pound's division's welcome (probably due to struggling to cut weight to make the limit) and should be fighting at several weight classes above. It doesn't seem like Floyd is taking the car accident into consideration when he's speaking here, it might have something to do with fact that after the catastrophic car accident just over 12 months later Spence beat a previous world champion in Danny Garcia and completely destroyed a then world champion in Ugas.
It's one thing to say he should be at 154 which would make sense given everything. It's another to say he should be fighting higher than 154 at 160 or 168 where there are much bigger punchers than at 154 and far more damage could be inflicted at those weights.
Mayweather just wants Spence’s name to feed to Canelo. They have no angle to which to sell the public the Jermall fight. Right now the only 2 interesting matchups are Jermell (they can sell the undisputed angle) and Benavidez (maybe Andrade if he beats Benavidez). Crawford would be doing them a favor.
He could definitely test the waters there. But the way Bud beat his arse? The crash before that, who knows how he is. Probably tough to come back from that type of trauma.

Yeah Spence is clearly done with 147, but I don't think he should go up that high right out the gate. 154 is the perfect division for him.
Spence is a really big guy, so size-wise he probably should be at 160/8. The problem is, part of the effectiveness of his style is having the size to bully guys and either jab or physically push them both back and off-balance. It's doubtful he'd be able to do that at 154, pet alone 160 or 168.
