Floyd saying Ortiz is his next opponent

A lot of these statements in the thread. All that don't directly state it seem to imply that they don't think Mayweather will fight in 2011 nor against a guy off a hot win.

Boom. Love seeing what people say about Floyd prefight and then what's said post fight. He best is when they've reported as fact that Floy is fighting Mathew Hatton or malignaggi in the past, and then based on a completely false premise call him a *****.

The comments before he fought Mosley were the best. Lots of people said he would meet fight him, then that Mosley would dominate. Afterward- Floyd picked him bc he knew he was ***insert nonsense***.

154: Martinez, Alvarez, Lara, Kirkland

All sound like infinitely better fights...

 

Hindsight is 20/20... Ortiz was winning the Lopez fight, the guy had his jaw broken in a way that made it completely understandable that he had to stop the fight, guy had that jaw cracked early, and had it completely broken through by the 9th round. His jaw still looks messed up now.

Anyways... you arent being reasonable... at the time Mayweather fought Ortiz Bradley, Peterson (who Ortiz actually beat, but had a draw with in his fight before berto) and Matthyse were at 140 LBS... Garcia had an rematch cause with Morales... Martinez was at 160... Kirkland a few months earlier had just been KO'd by a featherfisted Nobuhiro Ishida in the first round... Alvarez had fought nobody and was not developed enough... I don't know what Lara was doing at time.

A top WW at the time was berto, he was in line for a fight with mayweather, had held a belt for years, beat some good to decent names, and Ortiz was just moving up from 140 and everyone was doubting him due to his uninspired effort against Peterson, which fight ended in a controversial draw, which most know ortiz should have won. Berto was top ranked at WW at the time, Ortiz fought him in a war, in which Ortiz won most of the rounds and looked like a beast. After that victory Ortiz was RANKED #2 at the division. Really at the time... Mayweather had no 154 LB belt... he was not obligated to fight Martinez who was fighting Williams I believe... and besides Pac, which fight should have happened even earlier than that not by his own fault that it didnt entirely, Ortiz was the 2nd best option at WW, its in the ring rankings. Who else at WW was there?????
