Floyd should make cotto fight the williams/cintron winner

I would like to see this fight soom, it is the nest superfight but I can see the merit in building it.

Cotto beats top contender Magarito and Cintron in an all Rican affair.

Mayweather schools Hatton and possibly fights Mosley or Berto or somebody else..I dont know.

Then the stage is set, as much as I hate to admit it when things are built up by waiting they create more hype and therefore more $$$

 

Yeah, and Gatti was the WBC LWW champ, because Tszyu was stripped of his title and Gatti got to fight Branco for it. He is also 4-3-0 (3 KO losses) from 7 fights since he was given that belt.

Judah only still had the IBF belt because Baldomir didn't pay his sanctioning fees. If you feel Judah still genuinely held the IBF belt after losing to Baldomir, then all power to you.

Come on - Baldomir got lucky, got his 2 big pay days, and disappeared from the scene again. If you think a 16-1 or 41-9 underdog beating the undisputed WW champ isn't an act of luck, then more power to you. And if you don't, and think Baldomir's win over Judah was an act of skill, strength, courage, determination, (add superlatives here), then you're kidding yourself. Judah is a headcase, plain and simple. But by all means, argue semantics if it pleases you.

I don't know, you'll have to ask PBF why he insisted the Hatton fight be at 147 - if he wins, he doesn't get Hatton's #1 linear champ status at 140. And Hatton is a small JWW, or at least, he isn't a big one.

first of all buddy floyd hasn't faught hatton yet and hatton is a champ at 140 not 147. he looked like **** last time he faught at 147 and ran back down. so you can exclude him from that little list of yours and your proving my point for me.

You do the math jackass. Floyd went twelve with judah cotto distroyed him, carlos baldomir was and is a no name journey man who know one knew before he beat judah and no one knows now. And Sharmba Mitchell doesn't come close to Quintana who was undefeated and coming off a huge upset victory over joel julio when cotto destroyed him in 5 rounds. You need to stop concerning yourself with these paper belts and ranking and realie the difference in the quality of fighters.:-(

Margarito/Cintron/Williams/Clottey round robin

the only one who may have a chance of beating them all is PBF because of skill....and of course the latter round robin, the bogger welters

Stylistically, Williams is too much 4 all of them, he's close to the total package in a tall rangy body...his defense is porous, but his chin is granite(ask Margarito) and his output is lethal-all in a southpaw stance. @154+ he'l have problems, unless he works on his defense

 

cotto vs floyd right now is not huge. imagine trying to promote that fight while oscar's fight is being promoted, get a grip cotto is not a household name. he needs another big win against a prime young champ like himself to catapult himself into a floyd fight.

bigtime makes such a big deal about Cotto having his belt because Baldo didn't pay his sanctioning fees, but suddenly goes very, very quiet about the reason Gatti had the WBC belt at 140.

He also fails to acknowledge ODLH having the WBC 154 belt only because of a farcical title fight for the vacant title against Ricardo "B-Side" Mayorga.

A title that was also vacated I think when Winky dropped it to move to middleweight?


So - Cotto is a "trinket holder" for picking up a recently vacated title.
Floyd is a legend for picking up titles in exactly the same manner????

It doesn't matter how Gatti got his belt, you said he was shot which is far from the case. He had won 5 straight going into that fight and over the previous 6 years his only 2 losses were to Ward and DLH. So how do you figure he was shot?

I know exactly why Judah had the belt, but he still had the belt. You said he didn't have one which was incorrect.

As to why Floyd is fighting Hatton at 147, the answer is simple. If the fight is at 140, Floyd has to loose 8lbs., and Hatton has to loose an extra 7lbs. Also, if the fight is at 140 they fight for the IBO belt instead of the WBC belt. So by fighting at 140, both fighters have to spend more time loosing weight, and it's for a less prestigous belt. Not only that, but Floyd would be stripped of his WW title by doing this, which would hurt his bargaining power if he were to beat Hatton. Both men are ring and linear champs. So by fighting at 140, the only thing Floyd has to gain is a 140 lb. linear title which no one gives a **** about anyway. I have no idea how anyone could reasonably think that this fight should be at 140
