How would you rate him in terms of skills?

Well I personally thought he was in the absolute peak of his prime in 2005 when he fought Gatti in Atlantic City. He was a professional for 9 years, had over 30 professional fights and was at a weight class I wish he ended up campaigning for a couple years, but I don't blame him for jumping quickly to 147 since the big money fights were there.

Anyway, at 2005, I thought his overall skillset was just sublime. In terms of offense, defense and ring generalship, I put that version of Floyd Mayweather right up there with all the great all around skilled fighters of the past like Whitaker, Leonard, Benitez, Duran, and so on.

His reflexes, hand speed, combination punching and defense were ATG elite back in 05. That specific version of FLoyd at 140 lbs would've been a tough fight for any ATG at that weight class, regardless of the fighter.

He is one of the greatest defensive pure boxers within our current generation. Also a very effective counter puncher against most opponents.

He has always been a safety first type of boxer's boxer.

I can respect him in that regard.

Is he my all time fav fighter?? Naw.

Though I think his defensive wizardry is often out of this world..
He doesn't excite me the way Ali, Tyson or Sugar Ray Leonard did in the past...

'Pretty Boy' was phenomenal. Definitely one of the greats.

'Money'? He has been decent, but I think the Jump in weight, age and the way he fights now mean that something has been lost.

But, yeah, 140 and under - Floyd was an amazing talent.

I regularly watch his fights from that time as he was a pleasure to watch!

In terms of skills: as good as any of our era.

A perfect all-round boxer, perfectly integrated, switches between offense and defense seamlessly and smooth as silk.

I don't like him but he is truly brilliant at what he does.

No, you rate 'skills' on how good a fighter is at each skill.

Great defensive skills in his prime. Good offense in below lightweight. Average offense above 135.

triangle offense used to be top notch until the knicks used them.

it's about the personnel implementing the system against a certain level of opposition.

    opposition always matter.
