    Think what you want, but you are an abysmal poster.

    I'll say it again, quality of opposition. In terms of sheer ability, Spinks takes a giant dump on Hatton as well. They are not comparable as fighters, regardless of the 'facts' you keep bringing up.

    So Lewis was not a first ballot guy? And neither was Holmes?

    That right there tells you all you need to know about how shitty the Boxing Hall actually is!

    Spinks quite clearly has the greater depth to his record than Hatton does, I don't really see how anyone could make a reasonable argument to have Hatton in front of Spinks.

    Qawi, Cooney, Yaqui Lopez, Marvin Johnson, EMM shits on Maussa, Urango, Malignaggi, Collazo, JLC and I would say the Holmes I win is better than the Tszyu win.

    What a strange argument this thread turned into.

    Yep, we clearly do agree on this :lol:

    As I say, Barry McGuigan is the obvious choice when you're making criticisms of the H.O.F. It is a worthy tradition though, and it's great to see boxers getting their dues when they may have been out of the limelight for a while.

    Chang, and Little Red for instance ;-)

    You know the official canastota hof only began in 1990, there must still be a **** load of old timers who still deserve entry into the hall, and theres a certain limit on who can be inducted, so it could be a long time before half of these great fighters get their recognition:good

    Even though he turned up slightly after the party, the 175lb scene that Spinks eventually conquered was arguably one of the most stacked divisions of all time. The talent pool there was insane.

    No 140lb era comes close. Not unless you count all the fighters operating between 135-147 in the time of McLarnin, Canzoneri, Berg, Ross, Chocolate etc etc especially not Rickys. Not only does Holmes 1 **** over Collazo as a 'two-weight win' (in opposition, importance of achievment, actually being THE MAN) I would also agree with you that it's a better win than the Tszyu win.

    People make fun of him now..but when he came on the scene, he was kicking ass and taking names.....his activity and resume speaks for itself early on starting with knocking out undefeated michael nunn

    in just 3 1/2 years
    21 fights
    12 world title fights
    2 weight division champion
    the thing that makes him a bad ass is he had all these fights after he won his first world title...
    to put in real perspective in 3 1/2 years had only 5 fights fewer than david hayes entire 8 year career and 7 more world title fights :smile:

    I know. I've been there, and Jenna and I also once interviewed the great Carmen Basilio who is from Canastota.

    I'm not aware of any limit.

    Honestly, I know people who collect sports memorabilia and have collections FAR MORE impressive than the Boxing Hall of Fame as a whole. The IBHOF is ****, plain and simple.

    If I had just $1,000,000 I could turn that place into something that was somewhat respectable.

    It's really like a big garage that has a bunch of shitty small plaques, and a few random belts, robes, trunks, gloves, and fist casts.

    I drove there with two friends once on a Saturday night. We got there late and went to the "museum" on a Sunday and we were THE ONLY THREE PEOPLE THERE!

    They have one big weekend a year, induction weekend. They typically get 2,000 people there for that weekend give or take, just to give you an idea how insignificant this place is.

    I'm sure there aren't too many baseball fans here, but the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is a REAL museum. Not a garage filled with a subpar collection posturing as one like the Boxing Hall.
