Yeah I read the article.....if my crystal ball goes according to plan Cotto vs Mayweather may very well become a reality.

 

got to agree mayweather would get pounded by cotto. One thing is for sure without mayweather fighting these top welterweights I can see his legacy is going to fall light years short of what he thinks it is.

Cotto is a guy who has developed over the years into someone who is as good as they get in my view.

At 20, he was a product who could jab, hook and bring pain onto his opponents, the problem was he favoured certain punches a bit too much, his left hook for instance.

Against Malignaggi, the first signs of a more intelligent Cotto began to develop, Malignaggi had the handspeed advantage, first time for Cotto, so Cotto busted him to the body and went up top.

Against Judah, I felt Judah fought one of his better fights, mentally he lost because he stopped throwing that right hand that was doing the damage, but it did prove that Cotto can take a shot at 147.

Sugar Shane was just a continuation of the development, showed he could outhustle a hustling boxer, showed he was capable of working a game against a good tactician.

Margarito is going to show whether or not Cotto will do all it takes to win, he is superior in most attributes to Margarito, this will come down to toughness, heart and breaking ability.

If he comes through Margarito, you've really got yourself a finished product.

He has a very productive jab that rarely sees him hit by other fighters when throwing it, he has some of the best body busting shots in the game and throws them from a good shell, protecting himself.

He's got good combinations and a lot of snap in both hands.

The one area he needs to increase his ability is head movement and protecting himself when other fighters have as good/greater handspeed than he does. He tends to get hit a little too much for my liking.

We went through the Cotto/Margarito discussions enough times and you never came up with any half decent reply, in addition, my last reply to yours was straight-out ignored.

A CLEAR hater like yourself is making it sound like Mayweather is just a challenger in the division when in reality all those you mention were actually the challengers. Mayweather was the undisputed champion in the division and did either fighter do anything worth mentioning to EARN a shot?, please remember yelling behind a microphone ISN'T everything in boxing.
