    Yeah I hear ya.

I actually think sprinting is great work. Really helps with explosiveness, and keeps you in great shape.

You can“t just work the hands all day every day
There needs to be some sort of balance and running is fun.

Yeah it didn't make since considering he ran things with Floyd like it was a bootcamp. Sometimes Floyd Sr sometimes does not articulate what's in his head & it was prolly a misunderstanding

yeah I was so glad when I learned more about HIIT and sprinting :yep I hate running for a long time.
I don't know if this is the same with everybody, but my joints and shins don't get as worn out when I sprint like they do when I jog for a long time

Joe Calzaghe just trained with Enzo for his whole career, miles and miles of running up in the Welsh countryside, basic old school training techniques in their rundown gym, and whether you rate him or not as a fighter, Joe was one of the best conditioned boxers ever.

Well conditioned yes, but just because he used old fashioned methods, doesnt mean he couldnt have been better with modern methods.

Maybe he could have been more explosive and powerful if he had had a proper strength regime.

People always bring up guys who smoked and drank and still were successful, but the question is never asked how good they could have been if they didnt.

It's hard to think of any fighters who were better conditioned than Joe? Maybe Marvin Hagler? I'm not sure how much better Joe's conditioning could have been

he did a little cocaine, worked wonders for his energy, the crack head. He was on the same conditioning plan as Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor.

Floyd hasn't ever shown stamina issues. Then we have fighters with modern s&c coaches that still have suspect stamina like Cotto or manny (only letting go in the final 30 seconds of a round).

A s&c coach could help him, but the old school greats shown that it can be done with old school conditioning. SRR was able to fight 15 rounders and boxed until he was 45.

    Uh ...

    Floyd
    Manny
    Hopkins
    Bradley
    Andre Ward
    MArtinez

Joe was defintielt conditioned but he didnt throw a lot of power punches which depletes energy quickly. He threw high volume through his fights but he never sat down on his punches on a cosistent basis other than the Lacy fight , at least since I have been watching hiom.

I will say his fight against Kessler was a classic though, the way he adjusted in the mid rounds.

Yes, but I bet you could think of a bunch who were stronger, more powerful and more explosive?

Dont think they worked on that stuff too much with Joe.

The boxers of the golden era were in superior conditioning to todays 12 round fighters, and none of those guys had your S&C coaches around to help them.

Most of todays fighters couldn't fight in the 15 round eras, Larry Holmes said going from fifteen rounds down to twelve was like doing a completely different trade.
