Marvin always had a hard life, and that showed in his attitude towards training and fighting. He wasn't the strongest, or the biggest puncher, but the way he ground down opponents and took them out was brutal, great technical boxer as well.

What was the three minutes on, one minute off routine?

i'm in the camp of modernizing the training. that will be the future. of course that doesn't replace the fact taht skills wins and "craft" wins you. But being faster quicker more efficient doesn't hurt.

Probably a mix, modern but with a focus on boxing mechanics. So stuff like what I saw Pedro Diaz use. He had Miguel doing a lot of high-intensity interval training, but always focused on movement and punching mechanics. Sprints, squat-jumps, toe-touches, explosive upper body medicine ball stuff is all stuff I'd use as well, but I don't think anything can condition you like actually doing the thing you're going to do on fight night, which is box.

Did this a lot in my old gym.

not to derail this thread but do you think that Mayweather fight took something out of Cotto? It's only logical that he trained the hardest he ever has for a fight, and then he spent himself fighting hard. There were rumors about him peeing blood from the bodyshots

all of a sudden his timing is off and his punches lack snap in the Trout fight according to many fans

Definitely possible. It was that kind of fight. If Cotto was younger I wouldn't suspect it, he'd been through much worse punishment and bounced back, but at this stage, taking those sharp shots to the head and body could have definitely affected him. Not sure about the pissing blood part, just saw a bunch of *****s saying that all over, may or may not have merit. Not uncommon in boxing. Looked sluggish and even worse because of Trout's great performance.

Didn't Hagler call training going to jail or prison, somethin like that? Marciano, Hagler, Sanchez, Floyd Jr those 4 were overachievers. And their success is proof of that.

    Good spot.
He called it going to jail, and with good reason.
And that's not something I would say lightly.
