Haha. Truth is, i've never heard Roger give Floyd any sound advice in the corner. Its always, "pot shot that mofo"...."keep doing like you doing"......"His ass gonna tire out"....."box that mofo". That type of advice isnt anything Floyd doesnt already know.

OTOH I've never seen Unca give Jr advice because he doesn't need it---he dominates almost everyone (lately at least) Maybe when he fights Pac who can and will give him real trouble, Unca might flex his tactical muscles if he really had any

he could be right about this. I hope not though

MAYWEATHER: Well even though me and him were arguing and fighting, and I’m not going to say it’s because of me and him being in an argument. I’m not saying it for that reason. I’m saying it anyway from how I feel, and I told people in there already how I felt about it! Those sparring partners he’s got are nothing! And I admit that. Those sparring partners he’s got are nothing! I don’t know how good Victor Ortiz is, but whether you call him good, or alright, or whatever it is, he does have a world title so I would classify him in a better category. So I’m just saying with Victor Ortiz, I think little Floyd needs some better fighters than he has. He just has some punching bags in there. He had people he can just do what he wants to do with. He can sit there, and talk to them, and go over to the rope and shake somebody’s hand, and come back and continue to put a whopping on the man. You don’t need nobody like that man. You need somebody that’s going to get in your ass and you don’t have time for all of that. You ainn’t have time to reach over the ropes, and talk to somebody, and shake their hands and all that. You ain’t got time for all that. If you got good fighters you would not be able to do all of that.

I'm a little confused with Floyd Sr's assessment of Pacquiao.

One minute he says he fears for his sons life if he were to fight him. The next he's saying that he sees no way Pac can beat him. :huh

I wouldn't worry about Sr's opinion. His opinion only means something if criticism of Floyd can grow out of it.

It was said though i don't know how true it is. Rodger was better at training vs southpaws and that Mayweather Sr has no idea how to train against southpaws.

If only Jrs mother had not believed Sr when he said "trust me" ! Jr would have never been born.

I've never even seen Roger do anything with Floyd during his training aside from the pad work. I've never seen him giving Floyd advice during training.

all this talk about who made floyd better is bull****,floyd is a gifted athlete who would have been a great fighter no matter who trained him.his skills are god given not trainer given, now im not saying he would be undefeated had lets say ronnie shields trained him.imo i think floyd would have been better than he is and a more entertaining fighter had he been with a guy who had him being more aggresive and throwing more punchs .emanuel steward comes to mind,he is good at getting his fighters to be more aggresive with the exeption of wlad.if you look back at floyds last few fights he could have got the kos against mosley, marquez with ease if he had just thrown 3 punchs instead of 2.

that's not true at all. Pay close attention to Floyd earlier in his career.
Roger was with him in his first 15 fights with 13 KO's. Floyd Sr. took over and left right before the Augustus fight.
he talks abotu Floyd learning his defense from Floyd Sr. which is true, but it's gotten even better through the years with the help of Roger

There is a documentary on youtube on how Rodger got Mayweather to be way more offensive when he took over. So he had to have taught him some type of offensive principals when they first got together. Mayweather was only about what 16 so its not like he was a boxing master mind yet that could do it himself.

Mayweather wasn't always as technically sound a fighter and relied a lot more on speed and power when he was younger. It could be Rodgers guidance that has made him focus on being more technical.

Simple saying like "box him" vs Mosley clearly meant don't stand toe to toe lets use more movement. He doesn't say stuff like that instead he will say box that motha ****a. That's the way he speaks.
