Yep. He definitely got him to open up more back during his Floyd's younger aggressive days. Roger used to have a nice straight right hand, wonder if that's where Floyd gets his from.

I knew Roger had a belt at least twice in his career, but didn't know he had 9 major/minor titles over 4 weight classes. I also didn't know Floyd Sr. had none.

No, not according to what Nazim Richardson said on a previous episode of OTR.

Roger said that on a previous episode of OTR. Floyd later denied the fact that he doesn't know how to train lil Floyd to fight a southpaw.

Watch the Zab Judah fight. He gives Floyd more traditional advice there.

just goes to prove the cryptic lingo between fighter and trainer is something only they need to understand.

Clearly, doing a speed-mitts routine for the media isn't the epitome of Roger's instructive abilities.

Jr. has said Roger watches the tapes, comes up with the gameplan, and then they put in the real work behind the scenes.

this is dead on,roger never really tells floyd ****.real corner advice is when you hear a trainer tell his fighter in the corner something specific, something they notice the opponent doing and how to counter it or something he sees his fighter doing wrong and how to fix it.to me any trainer that says they dont watch tape of opponents because they aint **** to them and says they dont need no mfing strategy because its always the same "hit and dont get hit" is not a good trainer or just a liar,i think rogers a little bit of both.bottom line put floyd with any trainer and he is gonna make that trainer look like trainer of the year.

Roger does give Floyd real advice. Just pay more attention. Sometimes it's not needed when Floyd is winning by a large margin already

when some people say that roger "isn't teaching/giving floyd any advice", they do not understand that Floyd is ALREADY doing what he was training to do for that particular fight....floyd's never been down in the scorecards (and even in roger's view) to give him any different advice from "keep doin' what you're doin'" because what he is doing IS working....i can understand if Floyd was losing the fight, THEN roger would give him "advice" on what needs to be changed.... roger's job is kinda easy when he's got one of the best fundamental fighters in the game.

There is no smoking gun piece of advice trainers can give fighters during fights. You train for 6-8 weeks, and you come up with a sound game plan. Trainers can tell you what you're not doing, and what you need to do. 99.9 % of the fight is up to the fighter. What anyone, fan or trainer sees outside of the ring is not the same as what a fighter experiences in the ring unless you've boxed before.

you dont think floyd was behind in the scorecards against de la hoya in the first 3 rounds?what about castillo, that fight was close as it can get.what about the first 2 rounds with mosley, after the 2nd round when mosley hurt floyd bad all roger said was "box this mother****er,you got to keep working behind that stick, box this mother****er" and thats the extent of rogers instruction.
