Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. has advised his fighter, Ricky Hatton, to retire from boxing before he gets seriously injured. Hatton was blown out by Manny Pacquiao in two rounds on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao landed a left hand that knocked Hatton out cold and it took several minutes before the fighter was able to get to his feet. Following the event Hatton was taken to local hospital to get tested for any serious damage. Floyd does not see a reason for Hatton to go on. The Manchester star has been stopped in two of his last four fights. "I would suggest he retire. At the end of the day it's his decision. He tried twice. He failed twice. He lost to my son and to lose to someone below that, it's time to leave the ring. He made a good profit. Sometimes you have to go when your prime is still there," Mayweather Sr told Sky Sports.
gotta love the line "lose to someone below that". i'm sure we'll find out by December if that's true or not.
Easy for him to say that now that he'll be cashing a check big enough to actually turn himself into Predator instead of looking like the mutant human offspring of Predator and the Toxic Avenger.
And the media is still covering this idiots words? THIS MAN IS A SHAM. HE'S SCUM. HE'S AN OPPORTUNIST OF THE WORST KIND. HE'S NOT A TRAINER...........AND HE'S NO ONE WITH ANY INTELLIGENCE AT ALL. Boxing in general needs to lose this hypocritical oaf. This man is a travesty to boxing.
All of a sudden everyones moral again! Scum? Is it really that bad? Oppportunist? Ricky made MILLIONS defending the WBU 15 times at the M.E.N. The BBC had him down as a 6 time world champion. He then told the public this fight was for the P4P title. Now THATS opportune. Floyd simply made smart business off the lad. What did Ricky really think a crack head like Snr could do for him? If he had any common sense he wouldnt have fired Billy in the first place. So no the onlly intellgient person here was Snr. He took the money and ran. Hatton meanwhile got left staring at the stars...
You're absolutely right, of course, I was just waiting for the right time to bust that out since I've been thinking of that one for a while. :good
Why did he have to mention his son beating Ricky? Just saying that sounds like he is rubbing in the fact that his son beat him also.
I am sorry for hatton not only because of the total devastation he suffered under pq but because of him victimised by mayweather sr. that he fired his former loyal trainer believing that the sr. is the best trainer of time which turn out as the best trainer at no time.
