That is true, I definitely think if he had trained in other disciplines in his earlier days, he would be so good. Even today though, I ain't doubting him. Doubting Floyd Mayweather is quite possibly the dumbest thing to do in sports. The man is so utterly dominant.
Lol. If they lack a ground game then just about anyone who wasn't a complete bum would take them down at will and do as they pleased. Stop trolling please.
Like I said already, it's not trolling. I'm merely saying what's logical, and that elite boxers would always have that ability to do damage against anyone. Obviously without a ground game, they can lose, that fact I'm not going to contest, but watch Ray Mercer vs Tim Sylvia. One punch ended that man's night. I could definitely see more instances of that happening when elite boxers transition to MMA. In order to DOMINATE, training in other disciplines is a must, but not necessary to simply win some fights in MMA. I could see Floyd beating Conor in the cage, definitely within the realm of possibility with his ring iq, power, speed, reflexes, etc.
Of course they would have a punchers chance..... But barring that and stupid mistakes made by the MMA fighter they have little to no chance of winning without any cross training. As for Sylvia/Mercer... Sylvia made a gentleman's agreement with Mercer to stand and made an amateurish mistake by throwing a lazy low kick that allowed Mercer to score an early knockout. On the flipside Mercer wasn't able to deal with ground skills of Kimbo Slice who is a very low level MMA fighter. Now stop it with this BS.
We can't forget the fact that Mercer was also completely over the hill at that point, a prime Mercer could do some damage there. The fact remains that an elite lvl boxer would have a good chance of ending that fight, because the fight always starts on the feet. Anyways, we're kind of transitioning away from the original topic. The topic was whether or not Mayweather would do well in MMA, and it seems like there's news that he really wants to try his hand at it. I said that Mayweather cross training would definitely see him dominate the field (In his hayday), and with that kind of striking talent, Jesus. Even today though, would you really write him off? He's definitely cross training as we speak.
