Great fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7P3xZGB350[/ame] Senior could seriously fight and press on the action, he gave a good account of himself against Leonard. Now Leonard was the cream of the crop, but he had some trouble with Mayweather in spots. Two questions. 1. Do you guys think that Floyd Jr would do better than his dad against Leonard. Given the fact that Floyd Jr is smaller than his dad, but more he is clearly more skilled. The styles are similar between two Floyds. 2. How well would this Mayweather Sr do in todays division against: -Khan -Bradley - Margarito -Floyd Jr -Cotto? Could he have won any belts, or several?
Floyd Jr. would get dominated by Sugar RAy, too much speed, too much power, too big, too skilled, just as good a technician.
Thats what I am trying to figure out, he was really damn good...and then he had all the losses after. It says that he didnt fight for 1.5 years after his fight with Leonard, so that is a possibility.
It said he got shot when Floyd Jr was one years, so that's 1978 which was the same year he fought SRL. So I guess we were right http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=015480&cat=boxer I could see why he'd be pissed about that
SRL would systematicly smash floydie into ICU. Far superior in every aspect & SRL would relish putting the hurt onto floyd so as to show who really is queen bee.
so he got shot before or after the Leonard fight? I had him winning 2 rounds. He doesn't have no amazing right hand like his son do.
This fight was a one sided ass whooping after the first couple of rounds. Sr. had a good chin to stay in that long tho.
Floyd Snr was pretty good...gets a bit forgotten. He is obviously not close to his son or his brother but a decent fighter nonetheless. No way Jnr fights Leonard like that...Snr gave Ray issues mainly when he was aggressive and ballsy. Still got essentially dominated really, especially when he retreated straight back and invited Leonard to tee off on him when on the ropes..Something Jnr seems to do a fair bit of these days. If he could maintain some form and lay off the crack...easily beats some of the lesser titlists that have picked up straps lately at 147-154..but still falls short of beating the more established names.
Sr said he had a broken hand or some **** like that in this fight and it would be much different if he had had both hands
